Keep Driving Don’t StopOwner is a terse woman who asks a lot of questions and has many rules. Her husband insisted we park our small travel trailer his way. The restroom/shower was not available. The men’s side stated “Closed for Winter” even though it was springtime in mid April. The women’s side posted “Not open to people who have their own facilities”. We believe the restroom restrictions/discriminations are to keep people out so they don’t have to clean them. We were being watched and/or photographed the entire visit. Creepy. Did not feel welcome or safe. We paid $54 for ten hours of electric service at a level site. Not worth it. No southern hospitality here! - Janie King

For Tennessee locals seeking a quiet and convenient spot to rest their wheels or pitch their tent, Woodsmoke Campground in Unicoi, TN, offers a unique option that emphasizes tranquility and ease of access. While experiences can vary, many campers find this location to be a peaceful retreat, especially those looking for an overnight stop or a relaxed base from which to explore Eastern Tennessee. It’s a place that prioritizes a calm environment, allowing you to unwind after a day of travel or adventure.

Woodsmoke Campground is particularly suited for travelers with RVs, including larger fifth-wheel trailers, who appreciate a straightforward and manageable parking experience. Despite what might appear as tight spaces, the owner is known to be helpful in guiding campers, ensuring even substantial rigs can navigate with ease. This hands-on assistance can be a significant benefit, especially after a long day on the road.

The campground’s primary appeal lies in its quiet atmosphere. For those who value a serene setting over a bustling resort environment, Woodsmoke Campground aims to deliver just that. It’s a place where you can enjoy the sounds of nature, relax in peace, and get a good night's sleep without excessive noise or distractions. This focus on quietude makes it a distinct choice for campers throughout Tennessee looking for a genuinely restful experience.

Woodsmoke Campground is conveniently situated at 215 Woodsmoke Dr, Unicoi, TN 37692, USA. This address places it within the picturesque region of Eastern Tennessee, known for its scenic beauty and proximity to various outdoor attractions. Unicoi itself offers a sense of being in a more rural, peaceful area while still being accessible from major routes, making it a practical stop for those traveling through or exploring the region.

The campground's location on Woodsmoke Drive suggests a dedicated, perhaps smaller, setting that contributes to its quiet nature. For RVers, accessibility is often a key concern, and while some may perceive the entrance or internal turns as tight, the owner's willingness to assist with parking and leveling significantly mitigates this. This personal guidance ensures that even large vehicles, such as 42-foot fifth-wheel trailers, can navigate the campground without trouble.

Its position in Unicoi makes it a good base for exploring nearby natural wonders and charming small towns in Eastern Tennessee. While specific proximity to major highways isn't detailed, its address implies it's within a reasonable distance for travelers on routes passing through this part of the state, allowing for easy "in and out" access for overnight stays. This balance of a quiet, somewhat secluded location with practical accessibility makes it a viable option for many Tennessee residents planning their next trip.

Based on available information and typical campground offerings, Woodsmoke Campground provides essential services for campers, particularly those with RVs:

  • Electric Service: The campground offers electric hookups at its sites, a crucial amenity for RVs and trailers, ensuring power for various needs. The cost for this service has been noted, with one instance of $54 for an overnight stay including electric.
  • Level Sites: Campers have reported that the sites are level or easily leveled, which is a significant convenience for setting up RVs and ensures a comfortable stay.
  • Owner Assistance with Parking/Leveling: A standout service highlighted by visitors is the owner's active help with parking and leveling large rigs. This personalized assistance can be invaluable for navigating what might appear to be tight spaces.
  • Quiet Environment: While not a physical service, the commitment to maintaining a quiet atmosphere is a key offering, appealing to campers seeking peace and relaxation.

It is important to note that access to communal restrooms and showers has been a point of mixed experience. One review from mid-April indicated that the men's side was "Closed for Winter" and the women's side was "Not open to people who have their own facilities." This suggests that shared restroom/shower facilities may not always be available or are subject to specific restrictions, potentially to reduce maintenance for the owners. Campers with self-contained RVs should be prepared to use their own facilities. While potable water and a dump station are standard for RV campgrounds, specific confirmation of their consistent availability was not detailed in the provided reviews, so campers should inquire if these are critical for their stay.

Woodsmoke Campground offers several distinct features and highlights that cater to a particular type of camper:

  • Emphasis on Quietude: This is a key selling point. The campground is designed for those who desire a genuinely quiet place to stay, making it ideal for restful nights and peaceful mornings.
  • Owner's Personal Assistance: The hands-on help from the owner, particularly with parking and leveling large RVs, is a significant highlight. This level of personal service can make a considerable difference in a camper's experience, especially with bigger rigs.
  • Accessibility for Large RVs: Despite initial appearances, the campground is confirmed to be manageable for large vehicles, with a 42-foot fifth-wheel having "no trouble at all," thanks to owner guidance.
  • Level Sites: The availability of level sites reduces the hassle of setup and contributes to a more comfortable camping experience for both RVs and potentially tents.
  • Suitable for Overnight Stays: Its accessible location and focus on basic, quiet accommodation make it a good option for travelers needing a convenient and restful overnight stop.
  • Non-Reservation Friendly: One reviewer mentioned showing up without reservations and being accommodated, which suggests the campground may be flexible for spontaneous visits, though checking ahead is always advisable.

While some aspects like restroom access have received varied feedback, the core features of quietness, owner assistance, and RV accessibility remain strong points for many visitors.
