Willow Shores is conveniently located at 14025 US-12, Union, MI 49130, USA. This address places it in the southwestern region of Michigan, a picturesque area known for its numerous lakes, vineyards, and charming small towns. Union, while a smaller community, benefits significantly from its direct access to US-12, a major east-west highway that traverses the southern part of Michigan. This ensures excellent accessibility for Michiganders traveling from various parts of the state.
For those coming from larger metropolitan areas like Grand Rapids, Detroit, or Chicago (just across the state line), reaching Union via US-12 or connecting interstates like I-94 is generally straightforward. The direct highway access minimizes complicated navigation, allowing campers to arrive at their destination with ease. This convenient location makes Willow Shores an appealing choice for both weekend getaways and longer vacations, reducing travel stress and maximizing time spent enjoying the outdoors.
The campground's direct access to a body of water (implied by "Willow Shores" and reviews mentioning "beach area" and "jetskis") is a significant locational highlight. While the specific lake is not named in the provided reviews, its presence indicates opportunities for water-based recreation directly from the campground. This combination of highway accessibility and waterfront location makes Willow Shores a prime spot for Michiganders seeking a camping experience that truly embraces our state's natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
Based on customer reviews, Willow Shores offers services and an environment primarily geared towards family and pet-friendly camping with a focus on water access and children's recreation. While a comprehensive list of all amenities isn't provided, we can infer several key services:
- Campsites: The campground provides spaces for camping, presumably accommodating tents and RVs. The presence of a "beach area" and water activities suggests sites with proximity or access to the lake.
- Pet-Friendly Environment: The explicit mention that "my dog babies loved the sand" indicates that Willow Shores is welcoming to pets, a crucial service for many Michigan families traveling with their animal companions.
- Playgrounds for Children: The presence of "several playgrounds" is a significant service for families with young kids, offering dedicated spaces for children to play and engage in recreational activities, enhancing their camping experience.
- Water Access: While the "beach area is VERY small," the existence of direct water access allows for activities like swimming, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the lakeside environment.
- Accommodations for Watercraft: The mention of "jetskis and boats all over" implies that the campground either provides facilities for launching and docking personal watercraft or is situated on a lake that is popular and accessible for such activities, indirectly serving those with boats or jetskis.
It's important for prospective campers to note that while water access is available, the volume of other watercraft might impact the experience for activities like kayaking, as one reviewer noted. Visitors should inquire directly about specific facilities like full hookups, bathhouses, or other typical campground amenities if those are critical to their stay, as they are not explicitly detailed in the provided reviews.
Willow Shores offers several distinct features and highlights that contribute to its appeal as a camping destination in Michigan, particularly for families and pet owners:
- Pet-Friendly Environment: A significant highlight is its welcoming stance towards pets, with "dog babies loved the sand" being a direct testament. This makes it an ideal choice for Michiganders who wish to bring their furry companions along on their camping adventures.
- Family-Oriented Amenities: The presence of "several playgrounds" is a major draw for families with children, providing dedicated spaces for kids to burn off energy and have fun. This emphasis on child-friendly facilities contributes to a "family fun" atmosphere.
- Water Access and Activities: Direct access to the water is a primary feature. While the "beach area is VERY small," it still offers a place to enjoy the sand and water. The lake itself is clearly popular for "jetskis and boats," providing opportunities for motor-powered water sports for those who own or rent such equipment.
- Relaxation Opportunities: Despite the activity on the water, the general sentiment of having "a blast" indicates that the campground provides an enjoyable and relaxing atmosphere for many visitors.
- Scenic Setting (Implied): Being a "shores" campground in Michigan suggests a scenic lakeside setting, offering picturesque views and a refreshing environment typical of our state's many lakes.
It's also important to acknowledge a feature that some visitors might consider a drawback:
- High Watercraft Traffic: The presence of "jetskis and boats all over" indicates a busy lake, which might make activities requiring calmer waters, like kayaking, feel less safe or enjoyable for some. This is a crucial consideration for those planning specific water activities.
Overall, Willow Shores appears to be a vibrant and active campground, particularly appealing to those who enjoy a lively lake environment and are traveling with children or pets.

Had a blast, my dog babies loved the sand.
Jun 17, 2025 · Shannon OteroFor just my husband, myself and our dog it was ok. Young kids, there are several play grounds. Beach are is VERY small, and there was jetskies and boats all over. Made my husband nervous enough we wouldn't go out in our kayaks.
Jun 30, 2025 · Dawn ProffittAppears to be 5-8 sites for weekend warriors. The female host greeted us and seemed nice. All other sites are maybe seasonal or full time. Water pressure was sufficient, power was 119 volts and the sewer flowed as expected. Sites appear to be 40-50 feet deep. My 30' Class C Required 2-4" to level front to back. My kids collected 2-20 gallon bags of trash from the tree line. Other than the excessive amount of trash, this was a nice campground. We stayed on a Wednesday night and called at 2:40 PM to check for vacancy...I was able to make a reservation and the paper work was waiting in the after hours check in. Note: I had a fire going after 9pm...I'm not sure why the other person had a negative experience. Host responds to Facebook Messages. I would easily rate this 5 stars if some effort was put into trash pickup. I picked this place because it was only a few minutes from the RV Museum in Elkhart Indiana.
