For Vermonters seeking a truly unique and immersive escape into the countryside, Willoughby Rescue, affectionately known to many as Scott's Farm, offers a camping experience unlike any other. Nestled in the scenic town of Fairlee, this isn't your typical campground; it's a working farm that welcomes guests to disconnect from the everyday and reconnect with nature, friendly animals, and breathtaking views. If you've been dreaming of a getaway that combines rustic charm with thoughtful amenities and a genuine sense of tranquility, Scott's Farm is an exceptional choice. It's a place where the sounds of nature and the gentle presence of farm animals replace the hustle and bustle, providing a refreshingly authentic Vermont adventure.
Willoughby Rescue (Scott's Farm) is more than just a place to pitch a tent; it's an opportunity to experience farm life firsthand, enjoy secluded campsites, and explore extensive property trails. The warm hospitality of the host, Scott, combined with the playful interactions with his farm animals, creates an atmosphere that is both welcoming and memorable. This article will provide a comprehensive overview of Willoughby Rescue, highlighting its distinctive location, the unique services it offers, its standout features, and why it's becoming a beloved destination for locals seeking an "amazing weekend" or a peaceful retreat in the heart of Vermont.
Willoughby Rescue (Scott's Farm) is located at 1098 Wild Hill Rd, Fairlee, VT 05045, USA. This address places it in the charming town of Fairlee, Vermont, a region known for its rolling hills, pristine lakes (like Lake Morey and Lake Fairlee), and quintessential New England charm. While the address is straightforward, it's crucial for visitors to note a specific warning highlighted by previous guests and the host: "Definitely listen to his warning about downloading Google Maps before you leave to re-route around 4-wheeler roads." This suggests that GPS signals might be unreliable in the immediate vicinity, and having offline maps is essential to avoid unpaved or less suitable routes.
The location on Wild Hill Road implies a somewhat secluded and elevated position, which contributes to the "peaceful secluded spot" and "gorgeous views" mentioned in reviews. This means that while it's in Fairlee, a town with local amenities, the campsite itself offers a sense of being truly "disconnected from the outside world," as one reviewer put it. Fairlee itself is easily accessible via I-91, making it a convenient destination from various parts of Vermont and neighboring states. However, the final approach to the farm emphasizes a rugged, outdoor experience.
Guests should be prepared for the fact that the hike up to some of the sites, such as the "Big Sky Tent Deck site," is described as "steep." This indicates that while the location offers stunning vistas and seclusion, it also requires a certain level of physical preparedness for carrying gear. The combination of easy regional access via major highways and a more challenging, private approach to the campsites creates a unique balance for adventurers seeking both convenience and a genuine outdoor challenge.
Willoughby Rescue (Scott's Farm) offers a unique blend of farm life and camping amenities, designed to enhance your "disconnect from the outside world" experience. While it's not a traditional full-service campground, the thoughtful provisions and the farm environment itself create a distinctive stay. Based on customer reviews, here are some services and offerings:
- Unique Campsites: Guests can choose from various sites, including the "Big Sky Tent Deck site," which features a tent platform and offers "gorgeous views." Other options may be available depending on the farm's setup.
- Greenhouse Access: A standout amenity, the "greenhouse felt luxurious - especially in the rain!" This suggests a comfortable, sheltered space that campers can utilize, perhaps for cooking, dining, or simply relaxing, even in inclement weather.
- Farm Fresh Eggs: Guests can enjoy "cooking farm fresh eggs in the morning," implying direct access to or provision of eggs from the farm's chickens. This adds a delightful farm-to-table element to the camping experience.
- Friendly Farm Animals: A significant "service" is the opportunity to interact with the farm's animals. Guests are "greeted by all the animals everyday," which are described as "hilarious and super friendly," providing unique entertainment and a charming farm experience.
- Extensive Property for Hiking: Campers can enjoy "hiking around the property," indicating well-maintained trails or paths for exploration within the farm's expansive land.
- Host Responsiveness: Scott, the host, is highly praised for being "welcoming and very responsive," ensuring that guests' needs are met and questions are answered. This level of personalized service is a key aspect of the stay.
- Secluded & Peaceful Environment: While not a tangible service, the provision of a "peaceful secluded spot" is a core offering, allowing guests to truly relax and disconnect.
It's important to be prepared for a more rustic experience in terms of conventional facilities (e.g., no mention of traditional bathhouses or RV hookups), as the focus is on the unique farm and natural environment.
Willoughby Rescue (Scott's Farm) is renowned for several unique features and highlights that make it a truly memorable camping destination:
- Interactive Farm Experience: A standout feature is the presence of "hilarious and super friendly" farm animals that "greeted by all the animals everyday." This provides a rare opportunity for campers, especially families, to interact directly with farm life, which is a unique twist on traditional camping.
- Luxurious Greenhouse: The "greenhouse felt luxurious - especially in the rain!" suggests a unique and highly appreciated sheltered space available to campers. This offers a comfortable alternative for dining, relaxing, or simply escaping the elements, elevating the "glamping" aspect of the stay.
- Secluded Sites with Gorgeous Views: Sites like the "Big Sky Tent Deck site" are described as "peaceful secluded spot and the views were gorgeous." This privacy combined with stunning vistas of the Vermont landscape offers an idyllic setting for relaxation and contemplation.
- Farm Fresh Food: The ability to enjoy "cooking farm fresh eggs in the morning" is a delightful highlight, connecting campers directly with the farm's produce and enhancing the authentic farm stay experience.
- Extensive On-Site Hiking: With opportunities for "hiking around the property," guests have direct access to trails and natural areas without needing to drive elsewhere, promoting exploration and physical activity.
- Digital Disconnect: The environment encourages campers to "disconnect from the outside world." This is a significant feature for those seeking a true escape from screens and digital distractions, fostering a deeper connection with nature and companions.
- Welcoming and Responsive Host: Scott, the owner, is consistently praised for being "welcoming and very responsive," going above and beyond to ensure a positive guest experience. This personalized hospitality is a major asset.
- Unique Vermont Charm: The overall atmosphere combines rustic farm life with the beauty of rural Vermont, offering a unique and authentic experience that differentiates it from traditional campgrounds.
These highlights contribute to the overwhelmingly positive reviews and the desire for guests to "can't wait to go stay again."
As a unique farm-based camping experience, Willoughby Rescue (Scott's Farm) is typically booked through platforms like Hipcamp, which means specific promotional offers in the traditional sense (like discount codes or seasonal sales) are not always publicly advertised. Its unique value proposition often centers on the distinctive experience it provides rather than price reductions. However, potential guests might find variations in pricing based on factors such as:
- Site-Specific Pricing: Different campsites on the property, like the "Big Sky Tent Deck site," may have varying rates due to their features, views, or level of amenities.
- Seasonal Adjustments: Like many outdoor accommodations, rates might fluctuate depending on the season (e.g., peak fall foliage season versus quieter spring or late fall).
- Direct Inquiry: While not a promotion, direct communication with Scott, the host, through the booking platform is always recommended for any specific inquiries about group rates, extended stays, or any potential off-season flexibility, though this is not guaranteed.
The core "offer" of Willoughby Rescue is the unique combination of friendly farm animals, beautiful views, a secluded environment, and the option to disconnect, which guests find incredibly valuable. Prospective campers should visit the Hipcamp listing for Willoughby Rescue (Scott's Farm) to check current availability and pricing.

We had an amazing weekend at Scott's farm! The animals were hilarious and super friendly. The greenhouse felt luxurious - especially in the rain! We loved hiking around the property, cooking farm fresh eggs in the morning, and disconnecting from the outside world. Scott is welcoming and very responsive. Definitely listen to his warning about downloading Google Maps before you leave to re-route around 4-wheeler roads. We can't wait to go stay again!
Jun 13, 2023 · Azilee CurlWe had a wonderful stay at the big sky tent deck site! It is in a peaceful secluded spot and the views were gorgeous. The hike up is steep so be prepared! Getting greeted by all the animals everyday was such a bonus! Definitely recommend!
Oct 06, 2023 · hannah benningfieldMy dad and I spent a weekend here in an RV a few weeks ago. We were parked way closer to the main house than I had expected we would be but aside from that it was such a great mini vacation. I think most people who come here are camping in tents and those sites are very private. I think we were just parked in the only location that could handle our size. Just something to be aware of if you're RVing there!I grew up on a farm but I don't live on one anymore so when we were planning our trip I was hoping to find a place with as many animals as possible. There were donkeys and pigs outside the camper door every morning and they hung around with us when we sat outside. They were all so sweet and friendly, I was in love. It was fun to watch the big flock of geese that wanders around together. There were alpacas and sheep out in the pasture but we mostly hung around with the animals that were closer. The owner was upbeat and super friendly and helpful. We'd totally go back again!

Stunning views of the Vermont countryside. The farm tour Scott provided was such a great time as we got to help Scott out with a few of his daily chores. Highly recommend coming to stay and learn at Scott’s rescue. Thank you so much!
