May 26, 2025 · Brian MesaroshWild? Yes. Wood? Questionable. Campground? Debatable.Where do I begin? Wild Wood Campground was less a nature retreat and more like a deleted scene from Deliverance mixed with a low-budget zombie apocalypse movie filmed in the woods behind a Walmart.Upon arrival, we were greeted not by a ranger or staff member, but by a raccoon with the confidence of a New York taxi driver and the diet of a frat boy. He stared us down while eating half a Pop-Tart someone left on a broken picnic table. Bold move, Trash Panda. Our "premium campsite" was a patch of dirt slightly flatter than a speed bump, surrounded by what I can only describe as haunted trees. They creaked at night in Morse code, probably trying to warn us to leave. The fire pit looked like it was forged in a junkyard by a blind goblin, and it had someone's half-melted Croc inside. Not a pair—just one. A warning from the past. The bathrooms? Oh, sweet summer child, let me tell you about the bathrooms. If you've ever wanted to play a real-life game of "What’s That Smell?" this is your chance. I walked in and was immediately greeted by what I assume was a ghost of burritos past. One stall door was being held up with duct tape and broken dreams. The toilet paper had the consistency of old homework and dissolved on contact. The showers required quarters and faith. I had neither. The water alternated between Arctic blast and lava tears. No in-between. I came out cleaner, but emotionally damaged. The lake looked nice... until you noticed the mysterious bubbles, the layer of unidentified floating goop, and the duck that I swear was just pretending to be a duck. I think it was a spy for the raccoons.
Jul 04, 2025 · Poo LooLove this campground. It does not have a lot of amenities, but it does have a pond for fishing, swimming. Can also do a canoe trip. It has beautiful big pine trees, sites are spacious, the people who work there are friendly and helpful. Have been coming here for over 30 years.
