I've been going to these campgrounds with my family for over 20 years. These campgrounds are fantastic. They are quiet campgrounds spaced at a good distance from eachother. The campground offers running water, outhouses, a picknick table, fire rings (to only be used with a Fire Permit), and parking. It is about 5 miles to the town of Pine Flat, so emergency Fire services, and basic mini marts needs can be met. Alot with being near California hot springs, which provide a small deli, a mini store, ice cream, ECT, and the spring water. The campgrounds themselves are great for a 2 week vacation away from the world. The creek sits right against the campgrounds. Fishing is a great activity, when the waters are high, and fish have been planted. A five minute hike up the creek gives you perfect little water fall, with multiple pools, and a nice open area for relaxing. The trails are small, a not for the inexperienced. You can hike along the creek for a difficult hike (involves climbing, over and under: large rocks, trees, bushes, etc.Crossing the creek multiple times, many obstacles, and beautiful scenery. With so many memories, this campground is like home for our family. It is our go to spot to get away from everything. Take your friends, take your family, bring your supplies, and disappear. I cannot wait to bring my new family to these campgrounds, and share many more years, and making many more memories. - Brianna Daniels Meza (Bri Daniels)

Location and Accessibility

White River Campground is situated at Capinero Dr, Posey, CA 93260, USA. This location places it within the southern Sierra Nevada mountains, specifically within the Sequoia National Forest. Posey is a small, unincorporated community in Tulare County, known for its serene, forested environment and its gateway status to various outdoor recreational areas.

Access to White River Campground typically involves navigating mountain roads, primarily via State Route 190. From major population centers in California, visitors would usually head towards the Porterville area and then proceed east on Highway 190. The drive offers scenic views as it ascends into the foothills and higher elevations. The campground is approximately 5 miles from the small town of Pine Flat, which can serve as a very basic hub for emergency fire services and minimal supply needs.

It is crucial for potential visitors to note and heed recent reviews regarding road conditions. Reports indicate that the road leading to White River Campground has suffered from significant deterioration due to rain and snowmelt, with "disintegrating" sections and fallen trees. This suggests that access can be challenging, potentially requiring vehicles with higher ground clearance or even becoming impassable for standard passenger cars. Visitors should contact the Sequoia National Forest or local ranger stations for the most up-to-date road conditions before attempting to visit, especially during the spring melt or after heavy weather events. While the seclusion is a highlight, this also means preparedness for remote conditions is paramount. The proximity to California Hot Springs is an added convenience, offering a small deli, mini-store, and the unique experience of natural spring water, which can be reached within a short drive.
