White Oak Reviews
Campsites were great, there is not a lot of lighting which lets you see the stars at night, but walking to the bathrooms was a little spooky at night. Speaking of the bathrooms...gross. They were not maintained at all. By the end of the weekend there was no toilet paper in any of the stalls, and the receptacles in the stalls were packed full of eww. There is a sign outside that says it's closed daily for cleaning but there is no way it's been cleaned in weeks. The outhouses were absolutely disgusting too. My kids didn't want to use any of the bathrooms at all, luckily we don't live far so we came home to shower and freshen up. The park itself is great, the kids fishing pond was fun too and our kids did catch some fish while we were there.

Jun 15, 2024 · Nana Cathy & Papa Bob BearRock Cut is a great park for camping. A diamond lost in the Illinois rough. If you can get a site in Staghorn, White Oak, or Prairie View it’s a totally different experience. Plum Grove and Hickory Hill (tent only) are closer to everything, but also more open and the sites are closer to one another. The aforementioned loops are more secluded, wooded, and less “busy.” They are just further from the lake and playground areas. I would give a 5 star, but the bathhouses are not up to snuff in my opinion. Yes it’s a state park, but still… cmon Illinois get with the program. Let’s just say the vault toilet was more appealing!!!
