Westwood RV Park Introduce
Welcome to Westwood RV Park, an exciting and evolving destination for campers and RV enthusiasts located in the heart of East Texas. Nestled within the serene national forest, this park offers a unique opportunity to connect with nature, enjoy breathtaking views, and experience the tranquility of lakeside living. For Texans seeking a peaceful retreat away from the everyday hustle, Westwood RV Park is quickly becoming a go-to spot.
Westwood RV Park is currently a work in progress, embodying a vision of a comprehensive and comfortable camping experience. While it's still developing, the existing beauty and the promising future plans make it a noteworthy choice for those who appreciate natural settings and a friendly, attentive atmosphere. This guide will provide an honest and informative overview of what you can expect from Westwood RV Park now, and what’s on the horizon.
Westwood RV Park is conveniently situated at 245 Private Rd 3037, Jasper, TX 75951, USA. Its location is a significant draw, being truly "nestled in the national forest." This offers an immersive experience in the Texas wilderness, providing a sense of seclusion and natural beauty that can be hard to find. For local Texans, this means a relatively accessible escape into the great outdoors, whether you're coming from Houston, Dallas, or other parts of East Texas.
Access to the park involves hard-surfaced roads for most of the journey, ensuring a smooth drive. However, it's important to note that the entry road itself is described as steep and gravel-covered. While "do-able in and out" for most vehicles, including RVs, drivers should be prepared for this particular section. A key piece of advice from previous visitors is to avoid continuing past the camp, as the road becomes private and lacks a turn-around area. This highlights the secluded nature of the park and emphasizes the need to pay attention to directions upon approach.
Despite its natural setting, the park isn't entirely isolated from conveniences. Basic necessities are within a reasonable driving distance. There's a Dollar Store approximately 10 minutes away, providing quick access to essential supplies. For more extensive shopping needs, the town of Jasper is about a 20-minute drive, offering a wider range of stores and services. This balance of seclusion and nearby amenities makes Westwood RV Park practical for extended stays while still feeling truly immersed in nature.
Westwood RV Park is a park "still in the making," meaning some services are currently limited, but future plans are extensive. Here’s what’s available now and what’s projected:
- Limited Facilities (Current): At present, there are no communal facilities such as bathrooms or laundry services. Campers should be prepared for self-sufficiency in this regard.
- Water Access: There is access to water, though it's located "downhill from the park." Plans are in place to improve this access, making it more convenient for campers in the future.
- Future Full Hookup Spaces: The park is actively working on opening more "almost finished full hookup spaces." This will significantly enhance the convenience for RV campers, providing essential water, sewer, and electrical connections.
- Future Bathrooms and Laundry: Later phases of development are set to include the addition of communal bathrooms and laundry facilities, which will greatly improve the overall comfort and convenience for all campers.
- Boat Parking: For those with watercraft, the park offers convenient boat parking. This is a significant advantage given its proximity to the lake.
Westwood RV Park, even in its developmental stage, boasts several compelling features that make it an attractive destination:
- Beautiful Views from All Spaces: A consistent highlight from visitors is the "beautiful view from all spaces." This suggests that regardless of where you set up camp, you're likely to be greeted by scenic vistas of the surrounding national forest and potentially the lake.
- Peaceful Atmosphere: Nestled within the national forest, the park offers a profoundly peaceful atmosphere. This quiet environment is perfect for relaxation, stargazing, and enjoying the sounds of nature.
- Refreshing Lake Breeze: Campers have specifically mentioned the "refreshing breeze off the lake" at night. This natural cooling can be a welcome relief, especially during warmer Texas evenings, contributing to a comfortable sleep.
- Abundant Wildlife: The presence of "plenty of wildlife around" is a major draw for nature lovers. Expect to see various native animals and birds, adding to the immersive natural experience.
- Great Water Access with Sandy Beach: The park provides "great access to the water with a sandy beach." This is ideal for swimming, sunbathing, or simply enjoying the lakeside environment.
- Proximity to Westwood Boat Ramp: The convenience of having the "Westwood boat ramp right next door makes it easy to unload and load your boat." This is an invaluable feature for boat owners looking to maximize their time on the water.
- Attentive and Friendly Hosts/Owners: Visitors consistently praise the hosts, describing them as "very nice and attentive" and "great people." This personal touch and commitment to guest satisfaction significantly enhance the camping experience.
- Future Development Potential: The ongoing improvements and "many future plans for the park" indicate a commitment to enhancing amenities and services, promising an even better experience for returning visitors.

Westwood RV Park Reviews
This is a park still in the making. There are no facilities at this time. I was told that future projects include opening more, almost finished full hookup spaces, then later adding bathrooms and laundry. Access to water is downhill from the park, and walking there is to improve this summer. The view from all spaces is beautiful. The night quiet and a breeze off the lake is very refreshing. The roads in are hard surfaced, until your at the entry. The entry road is steep but gravel covered, but do-able in and out.Hosts were very nice and attentive.Do not continue past the camp as the road becomes private and no turn around area is provided.Shopping is 20 min away in Jasper. There is a Dollar Store about 10 minutes from camp.
