Wendover Campground is conveniently located within the Clearwater National Forest, specifically on US-12 at milepost 158.2, near Lolo, MT 59847, USA. While its address is listed in Montana, it's important for locals to note that the campground itself is situated on the Idaho side of the border, along the famed Northwest Passage Scenic Byway. This makes it easily accessible for Montanans, particularly those in Western Montana, as it's approximately 60 miles southwest of Missoula. The drive along US-12, also known as the Lewis and Clark Trail, is incredibly scenic, offering continuous views of the Wild and Scenic Lochsa River. The campground is well-marked off the highway. Its location makes it an ideal stop for those traveling the scenic byway or as a destination in itself for a quiet getaway. Visitors should be aware that while the roads within the campground typically have paved driveways, the overall environment is rustic and immersed in a mature, moss-covered pine forest.
Wendover Campground operates as a U.S. Forest Service campground, providing essential services for a comfortable, albeit rustic, outdoor experience. It's designed for campers who enjoy a self-sufficient approach to their adventures:

Wendover Campground Reviews
Beautiful campground, very close to the Jerry Johnson hot springs. Only about 8 miles away. Keep it nice if you do visit!
Aug 24, 2016 · Amanda MorgelGreat little campground on the Lochsa River in Northern Idaho. We stopped by during the week and there were only two spots being used in early June. Vault toilets and bring your own water.
Jun 13, 2023 · Dan ANice campground, but the water pump was broken. Also, they decided to put rumble strips on the road, which is busier than you'd think at night, so all night long you hear trucks and cars hitting those rumble strips. Next time I'll pick a campground off the road a little more. We were tent camping, so inside an RV this might not matter as much.
Aug 11, 2021 · J. Alan Hatcher (Hatch)The coolest campsite I have slept at if you get a site close to the river you can hear it in your tent absolutely immaculate place the camp
Jun 07, 2023 · Stone BurkeNice well spaced sites some on river. Forest service in process of removing some trees blown down over last winter. Stayed in an Airstream August 2019.
