Webb Landing

4.0
We camped here for a week and were pretty much the only campers. Beautiful forest around the campsite and nice turnaround parking lot. There were two access roads, one of which is now washed out by the looks of the beginning of the road, and the other is a pretty nice drive. One of the downsides is others had left trash all around and had not taken care of anything. The signage is in pretty rough shape (most of them had been filled with bullet holes). We heard it can be a very rough place. If you are planning to leave any of your belongings here unattended I'd advise against it. This would be a five star if it weren't for certain people and what they did/do there. Hope this helps someone. - Lena N

Webb Landing Introduce

For adventurous Floridians seeking an authentic, no-frills outdoor experience, Webb Landing in Pace, Florida, offers a unique opportunity to connect with the raw beauty of the Escambia River Wildlife Management Area. This is not your typical manicured campground; instead, it presents a rugged, secluded environment perfect for those who prioritize fishing, offroading, and a genuine immersion in nature. Webb Landing invites you to embrace a more primitive camping style, surrounded by dense forest and the serene presence of the Escambia River, making it an ideal spot for locals looking for a true escape from the everyday.

Webb Landing is known for its free camping, which is a significant draw for many outdoor enthusiasts. This allows for accessible outdoor adventures without the typical costs associated with developed campgrounds. While it offers essential amenities like picnic tables, fire rings, and a boat ramp, it's crucial to understand that this is a rustic area. As some past visitors have noted, maintaining the cleanliness of such free-access areas often falls to the users, and some aspects of the immediate surroundings might reflect varied levels of care. The experience at Webb Landing is largely dependent on an appreciation for wilderness and a readiness for self-sufficiency.

Reviews indicate that if your primary goals are fishing or offroading, you'll likely "have a blast." The direct access to the Escambia River, renowned for its diverse freshwater fish species, makes it a prime location for anglers. For offroad enthusiasts, the surrounding trails in the Wildlife Management Area present opportunities for exploration. However, campers should be aware of the active nature of the area, as night fishing and offroading activities can occur, potentially impacting sleep for those seeking absolute quiet. Despite some challenges like the condition of signage or GPS navigation attempts to off-road trails, Webb Landing remains a viable option for those who understand and appreciate its primitive, untamed character, offering a truly local Florida outdoor experience.

Webb Landing is located at 8062 Webb Landing Rd, Pace, FL 32571, USA. This address places it within the vast Escambia River Wildlife Management Area (WMA), situated in Santa Rosa County, Florida. For Floridians, especially those in the Panhandle, this location offers a relatively convenient drive to a deeply natural and less developed outdoor space. Pace itself is a growing community, but Webb Landing is positioned to provide that sought-after feeling of being "out in the wild," away from the suburban sprawl.

Accessing Webb Landing requires a bit of awareness and preparation. While there is a main access road that is generally a "pretty nice drive," reviewers note that GPS might sometimes attempt to direct users down off-road trails. This emphasizes the importance of following reliable directions, potentially from the Northwest Florida Water Management District or Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC), which manage the area. One of the two primary access roads has reportedly washed out, indicating that conditions can change and visitors should be prepared for rustic road quality. The lack of prominent signage also means visitors need to be observant. Despite these navigational nuances, the journey to Webb Landing itself is part of the adventure, leading you through forested landscapes that signal your arrival at a truly wild and untamed Florida environment. This seclusion is precisely what appeals to many locals seeking an authentic outdoor experience away from crowded, commercialized sites.
