An additional $5 nightly surcharge applies to out-of-state residents. The park also charges a daily vehicle entrance fee, which is $10 per vehicle. For New York locals who frequently visit state parks, purchasing an Empire Pass ($80 annual fee) can provide significant savings, allowing unlimited day-use vehicle entry to most New York State Parks and facilities for a full year.
While there are no specific "promotions" in the typical retail sense, the value offered by such a well-equipped campground in a prime location at state park rates is a considerable advantage. Reservations for campsites, especially those with electric hookups and during peak season (Memorial Day to Labor Day), are highly competitive and are strongly recommended to be made up to nine months in advance through the official New York State Parks reservation platform, ReserveAmerica.com. Watkins Glen State Park Six Nations Camping Area Reviews
We stayed two nights at the Onondaga campsite and unfortunately found the bathroom facilities to be very disappointing. From Friday-Sunday morning, it didn’t appear that the bathrooms were cleaned at all. Of the two shower stalls, one was broken and running continuously. The first night, the water was ice cold. Maintenance did come by the next day and, while they weren’t able to fix the continuously running broken shower, they were thankfully able to restore hot water for the remaining time of our stay.Being located right across the road from the bathrooms, we expected easy access-but there’s no direct path between campsites, so we had to walk most of the road to get there. It ended up being a 7-10 minute walk for what would have been a 30-second trip. I would strongly suggest adding a footpath or cut-through for easier access to the restrooms. That said, the best part of the site was its direct access to the Gorge Trail. The hiking opportunities were absolutely beautiful and a real highlight of our stay!
