Wassamki Springs Campground boasts an enviable location at 56 Saco St, Scarborough, ME 04074, USA, making it incredibly accessible for locals across Maine and providing a convenient base for exploring Southern Maine’s most popular attractions.
One of its most significant advantages is its proximity to Portland, Maine’s largest city and cultural hub. Its strategic position also puts you within a short drive of other beloved coastal destinations, such as Old Orchard Beach with its famous pier and amusement park, as well as the charming towns of Freeport (home to L.L.Bean) and Kennebunkport. While reviews occasionally mention airplane noise from the nearby Portland International Jetport, many campers find it a minor trade-off for the unparalleled convenience and the joy of seeing the planes. The ability to quickly reach both bustling urban centers and tranquil natural escapes truly highlights the campground's superb accessibility for Mainers.

Wassamki Springs Campground Reviews
The waterfront sites offer a gorgeous view. Bathrooms are outdated but clean. The staff was super friendly. We stayed before Memorial Day so it was very quiet. The airplanes didn't bother us at all and the kids loved seeing them. The location can not be beat! We will definitely be visiting again!
May 18, 2025 · Jennifer WalkerThis is a great campground. It is small compared to other. However, it is perfect for our needs. The staff is super friendly and helpful. They are pet friendly and have an area for dogs to run in. The only downfall is the playgrounds are small. And the kids get board quickly with them. My youngest is 5.
May 28, 2025 · Danielle NelsonBeautiful campsites on their little pond! Great location as well. It’s very close to all the beautiful sites in Portland.Only negative was they buy the cheapest toilet paper known to man. It’s so thin, you can’t even pull it out of the dispenser without ripping it.
May 20, 2025 · Joey MusanteIt's loud because of the airport, and the staff will never shut up about the 5mph speed limit. It was borderline harassment and very unprofessional. Would not recommend. There's also a very grumpy old guy who will approach your campsite at much over 5 mph to tell you off. People are gonna speed when you have a speed limit in the single digits. The toilets were outdated and not very clean. Last but not least if you gave me the choice between their toilet paper and sand paper I would pick sand paper.
Jun 06, 2025 · Colby ReitsLovely camp ground. More like a park than a commercial campground. Sites are nice with enough room. Restrooms were good. Hosts were kind, especially as it was a last minute booking. Everything was well-maintained.
