Washington State Park - Special Use Campsite Introduce
Hey Missouri nature lovers and adventure seekers! If you're looking for a truly unique and private escape within our beautiful state parks, then the Special Use Campsite area at Washington State Park in Cadet, Missouri, is a hidden gem you need to know about. This isn't your typical crowded campground; it offers an exclusive and serene experience, especially for those seeking privacy and space for larger groups or families.
Washington State Park itself is a magnificent destination, celebrated for its rich history, stunning natural beauty, and a wide array of recreational opportunities. But what truly sets the "Special Use Campsite" apart – often referring to its highly sought-after private cabins – is the unparalleled seclusion it provides. Imagine having a three-bedroom "house" tucked away at the end of a private road, completely surrounded by woods, with no other campers or cabins in sight. That's the level of privacy and comfort that awaits you here, making it perfect for family reunions, large group gatherings, or simply a luxurious retreat into nature.
Beyond the privacy, the cabins are designed for comfort, offering many amenities you'd expect from a vacation rental, rather than a rustic campsite. Combined with direct access to the Big River for floating, a variety of incredible hiking trails, and unique historical features like ancient petroglyphs, Washington State Park's Special Use Campsite promises a memorable and enriching outdoor adventure right here in Missouri.
Washington State Park, home to the Special Use Campsite and its remarkable cabins, is conveniently located in Cadet, MO 63630, USA. This prime spot is nestled on the border of Jefferson and Washington Counties, offering a perfect blend of natural seclusion and easy access to both rural charm and major population centers, being just under an hour's drive from St. Louis.
The park is easily accessible right off Highway 21, making the journey to your secluded getaway straightforward. While the cabins themselves are at the end of a private road winding about a quarter mile into the woods, ensuring maximum privacy, the overall park is well-connected. This means you can quickly reach the park's main attractions and facilities, including the Big River day-use area, hiking trailheads, and the pool, while still retreating to your own peaceful haven. For those who might forget an essential item, a Dollar General store is conveniently located right outside the park entrance, adding to the accessibility despite the park's natural setting.
The park grounds are open from 7 a.m. to sunset year-round. However, it's important to note that from November through March, some roads, including those leading to the swimming pool, cabins, and the Big River Day-Use Area, may be closed to vehicles but remain open for foot traffic, allowing for continued enjoyment of the park's winter beauty.

Washington State Park - Special Use Campsite Reviews
The wife and I took the kids for a float trip and we stayed in the 3 bedroom cabin the park has to rent. It’s more like a 3-bedroom house. It has a total of 5 queen beds and 2 fold out couches. With 2 full bathrooms. Your own patio with a fire pit and a charcoal grill. The cabin is at the end of a road that goes into the woods about a quarter mile. And there is nobody other campers or cabins back there. So it is very private. We had a great time and we will do it again next year.
