This destination is designed for those who appreciate the untouched wilderness but prefer to have a few more amenities than a typical campsite.
Wander Camp Yellowstone is specifically designed to be an off-grid experience, meaning there is no electricity or Wi-Fi in the tents themselves. This intentional decision allows guests to fully disconnect from the digital world and connect with their surroundings. The peaceful and scenic location provides an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, inviting you to enjoy a quiet, serene, and restorative stay. From the moment you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a friendly and welcoming staff who are genuinely happy to help you make the most of your adventure. Their warm hospitality, as noted by many visitors, is a standout feature that adds to the overall positive experience.
The camp's dedication to providing a unique, nature-focused stay is evident in every detail. The canvas tents are spacious and beautifully furnished, providing a cozy and inviting atmosphere. It's a truly immersive experience that allows you to be one with the environment, all while having access to essential conveniences that make your stay hassle-free.
One of the most praised aspects of Wander Camp Yellowstone is the helpfulness and friendliness of its staff. They go above and beyond to ensure guests have a positive and memorable stay, from providing thoughtful gestures like a bouquet of flowers to offering helpful local tips and information. Their genuine happiness to have guests at the camp creates an atmosphere that is both welcoming and professional. This human element is a significant part of the charm and appeal of the place, making you feel less like a customer and more like a valued guest.
The location of this campground is a strategic advantage for anyone looking to explore the region. Situated just outside of Yellowstone National Park, it serves as a perfect home base for day trips to see the park's iconic features like Old Faithful, Grand Prismatic Spring, and Mammoth Hot Springs. While the camp itself is in a rural, off-grid setting, its proximity to these major attractions means you can enjoy the peace of nature without being too far from the action. The location also makes it an excellent choice for those looking to explore other nearby natural wonders and recreational opportunities in both Montana and Idaho.
The beauty of Wander Camp Yellowstone is in its simplicity and focus on the essentials. It is not trying to be something it's not. It’s a clean, safe, and comfortable place that provides a connection to the outdoors that a traditional hotel simply cannot replicate. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1My husband and I came here on our honeymoon the second week of June. We stayed for two nights and greatly enjoyed our stay. The staff went above and beyond! They brought us a cute bouquet with some waters which was so kind and thoughtful. They were so friendly and you could tell they were genuinely happy that we were there. The location has moved since last summer but they sent an email a few weeks prior informing us of the new location and then send a reminder text the day of. It wasn’t hard to find at all, though there were some major pot holes (to be expected on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere) so take it slow. We had the most beautiful view from our tent. The beds were so comfy and kept us surprisingly warm, even though it rained through the night, we wore hoodies and sweats and were just fine. Though they do have heaters you can rent for your stay if you need to be warmer. It is camping after all so you can’t expect it to be like a luxurious hotel. They have bathrooms and showers with running water. Such a fun and unique experience. I'd recommend it!! It’s quiet and scenic and if you look out at the fields surrounding it you can see pronghorn and bald eagles. On our way out to go to the Playhouse Mill we stopped and talked to the staff. They were some of the kindest people I’ve met. So to the two cute staff members who told us to tell them how the Playhouse Mill was, we 10/10 recommend.
June 17 · Kelsey LongmoreThis was a great place to stay after a day in Yellowstone. I loved the view and the charming tents with comfy beds. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Here’s what you need to know… if the forecast is for cold, bring a couple extra comforters as there is no electricity in the tents themselves. They have propane heaters to rent for $22 that last 4 hours. Honestly, we weren’t super comfortable running it in the tent so we left it off and just added an extra couple layers of blanket. I was plenty warm thru the night even though it got down to 32 degrees. They do a good job cooking on site but next time we would eat before we arrive or bring food to keep in our vehicle. No food allowed in your tent and the food they have is pretty pricey for what you get. We did have the cheeseburgers, baked beans and chips. We didn’t stay for the breakfast. No campfire near the tents but you can buy wood from them and make a fire in the picnic area. Bathrooms are those luxury portables, some with showers. We chose to skip that due to the cold temps. You can hear other campers around you as they come and go so it did make sleeping hard for my husband who is a light sleeper. There are lights along the path and outside each tent but it was still nice to have my own headlamp. Have fun!
June 28 · Roxanne MolsknessOkay place to have a "glamping" camping experience near Yellowstone. The tents are equipped with very comfortable beds - I did not feel cold during the night. But you will still inhale cold air which was okay for me. They offer gas heaters for the tents but the price is very high (20 USD per night + 10 USD per gas bottle which lasts just few hours). There is no electricity - only a solar light in your tent. You need to bring a big powerbank to charge your electronic devices or charge in your car. Shower & Toilets are shared. There was 4G/5G connection with T-Mobile. In general I found the daily rate it about 100 USD very expensive for what you get.
July 02 · SebastianThis is the WORST experience I’ve ever had, and I will never return.First, the location was changed last minute—with no proper notice. Just a casual text on the day of check-in. The new site was clearly rushed and unprepared. Tents were placed awkwardly among overgrown brush. The one light provided was dimmer than my phone’s flashlight. It felt like we were beta testers, not guests. Then came the cold. It was freezing at night. But instead of providing heaters as a basic necessity, they charged extra—just to stay warm enough to survive. Worse still, the heater died after two hours and wouldn’t turn back on. We shivered through the night, barely able to sleep. And it wasn’t just us...our neighbors gave up and spent the night in their car just to avoid the brutal cold. Absolutely unacceptable. The campsite was also extremely isolated. No nearby stores, no food, nothing but potholes and rough terrain leading in. The road there was like an off-road challenge, constant bumps, dips, and anxiety. The staff disappears after 10pm. That means if something goes wrong—whether it’s a broken heater, extreme weather, or wildlife—you are completely on your own. No one to help.I’ve never felt so disappointed, frustrated, and unsafe on a trip.
June 01 · Lena WhiteWe are so excited and charmed by this place! I have driven past these for years and wanted to stay and now we are getting the chance to!
