Wade Lake Campground and Picnic Areas is located at Wade Lake Rd, Cameron, MT 59720, USA. Its location is a key part of its rustic charm. Situated near the lake, the journey to the campground itself is part of the adventure. The access road is a dirt road, which, as customer reviews indicate, can be a bit "sketchy" for 2WD sedans. However, these same reviews also assure that it is manageable for these vehicles, provided you go "very slow." This is a crucial detail for visitors who may not have a truck or SUV, and it adds to the sense of a genuine, off-the-beaten-path experience. The remoteness contributes to the feeling of being in a "hidden gem," away from the more crowded, easily accessible spots.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Great hidden gem! I saw the recent review about 2WD and was a bit scared but my sedan did just fine getting up to Wade lake campground. We stayed 3 nights in site 25, glad rec.gov reserves a few sites that can only be reserved 14 days out. We never saw or heard from the camp host and spot 25 is right across from the camp host. They turned their generator on each morning right around 6am which was a bit frustrating but we understood staying in a campground can be like that. But 6am felt a bit too early as tent campers. We also had a lot of flies during the day at the campsite but we were grateful they weren’t as bad by the lake. Such a beautiful setting!
July 13 · Ellen Nygaard SissonVery beautiful campsite, and very nice camp host. However, I didn't realize that the dirt roads would be so sketchy in my 2WD sedan. You can do it without a truck, but you're going to need to go very slow. Consider other campsites if you don't like dirt roads. The campsite and lake were absolutely beautiful though. Not very busy in May.
May 18 · Zack SargentThis place is absolutely beautiful. 25 camp sites, and we booked ours a year out. They have vault toilets and drinking water. Some sites are small, and you won't be able to fit an rv or camper. So look at a map of them before booking. Easy access to the lake and day use areas. Stocked with trout to fish. No cell service, but you can get it if you are right by the boat launch! We stayed for 4 nights and wish we had time for more. Our dogs also had a blast.
August 20 · Brandon LefortWe just went for the day use area. However, we definitely want to camp there after checking out the campsites. Not all are good for trailers. I would definitely do some research before choosing a spot to reserve. However, the lake is amazingly clear and great for paddle boards. Get the early for a spot on the beach.
July 22 · David RamosBeautiful campground on lake (stay lower tier if you can - we were #3, but 4 and 5 are also on the lake). Perfect for kayak, SUP and swimming as is a no wake lake. Chilly for my swims but had a wetsuit. Sadly lots of places booked but were ‘no shows’ - people, cancel if you are not using your spot so others can enjoy! Also Crike Lake CG and Upper CG if place is full. I imagine it is busy in peak summer and weekends.
