Out of gratitude and appreciation for a good life he donated this park to Butterfield. He personally plant s the original trees on eighty acres. This provided a wonderful canopy for future activities. Butterfield began to host the Butterfield Steam and Gas Engine Show in 1967. Locals and friends call it The Bee. Wild flowers have been planted around Butterfield Lake to invigorate and deepen the atmosphere while providing additional habitat for pollinators and wildlife. The grounds are beautifully attended to by volunteer labor. The campground is a renowned experience featuring totally up to date facilities and state of the art conveniences.
