Volga Lake Campground Reviews
Volga Lake Campground is very modern and clean, with concrete roads, nice shower facilities, and a playground. The sites are fairly level and include a number of large pull through sites as well as some back in. There is a mix of full hookups, electric/water, and electric only. This is a very modern campground as opposed to a rustic, more nature based setting. There is a nice lake down the road for fishing and several multi-use trails in the park.
Jun 07, 2025 · Dawn JOne of the largest and cleanest state parks we've been to. There's ample room between campsites and there were plenty of open spots on the weekend. The lake was great for the kayak and popular for fishing. Large sunflower field and the equestrian campground was well kept too.Photo of campsite #12.
Aug 05, 2024 · Sonia S.A favorite camping area for tent and RV camping. Tons of trails, well maintained roads and campsites. The Lakeview campground (modern RV camping) is superbly maintained with a dedicated camp host. Some water hydrants have leaks, but that's to be expected with the late season freezes we've been getting lately.Albany rustic camping areas are decent, but few remain as the equestrian campsites continue to expand.Note that there are many amazing spots for Morels during the right time of year!Volga River State Rec Area is one of Iowa's gems!
May 04, 2025 · Paul DuBoisThis is an amazing campground in a very scenic area of the state! There are trout streams nearby, a lake in the park, trails, clean restrooms and shower houses, lots of full hook up sites (9 walkup only full hookup!) and plenty of room on each site! There is a small park for children and some of the sites offer plenty of shade, while others are in the open with little in the way of shade trees. The camp hosts and family were friendly and came by to check in a couple of times and it seems like most of the people camping here go to bed quite early! Super quiet at night with great views of the stars!
Jul 05, 2021 · Kyle Dykstra (Amundred)Great campground! Has full hookups and a small playground for kids. Fire rings have grills. Some back inside and pull through sites. Space between sites is good, not on top of each other. Nice shower house and bathrooms.
