Location and Accessibility
Up the Creek Campground boasts an exceptional location at 210 E 300 S, Moab, UT 84532, USA. This address places it just two blocks off Moab's bustling Main Street (Highway 191), making it incredibly accessible for locals driving in from anywhere in Utah. The convenience of its downtown Moab location cannot be overstated. After a day of exploring the national parks or hitting the trails, you are literally within walking distance of Moab's wide array of restaurants, shops, gear rentals, and grocery stores. This means no long drives back to town for supplies or a well-deserved meal, allowing you to maximize your adventure time.
While the campground is centrally located, it is nestled within a grove of large shade trees next to a perennial stream, which offers a surprising sense of seclusion and a pleasant ambiance, despite being in an "urban campground" setting. The property is designed as a walk-in only campground for campers (no cars allowed in the camp area itself, and no RVs, trailers, or vehicles for sleeping). This contributes to the quiet atmosphere and enhances safety within the camping area. Guests park their vehicles in a dedicated parking lot, which is mostly shaded, and then use provided hand carts to transport their gear to their tent sites. The distance to the campsites is short, at most 50 yards, making it an easy and quick process for most.
Its strategic location also means quick access to Moab's world-famous attractions. Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park are just a short drive away, as is the renowned Slickrock Bike Trail and numerous other hiking and off-roading opportunities. This central hub makes Up the Creek Campground an incredibly practical and desirable base for any local Utahn looking to experience the best of Moab’s outdoor recreation without the added commute. Despite being in town, the sound of the creek and the shade trees offer a welcome respite from the desert heat and the city's hum, creating a unique urban oasis.

Up the Creek Campground Reviews
This place is pretty interesting! I do recommend it.The good: bathrooms were spotless. The showers were hot! The location was excellent, just off of downtown. Lots of shade trees to keep your site from the blazing Moab sun. When we were there it was so quiet. Nobody messing with anyone, even though it gives “hostel” vibes. I don’t think we heard more than 10 words even though the place was mostly sold out.The bad: sites are a little on the small side. The camp sites do not have fire rings, driveways, etc; this is just a place to pitch a tent and a picnic table next to it. YOU DON’T NEED more space than it provides but you’re essentially closer to your neighbors than you would be in most camp sites. You also need to walk your gear in to your site (they have hand carts and it is NOT far, at most 50 yards) my wife and I did it in one trip. But if you needed to bring a camping stove and a cooler and stuff, then it would be multiple trips. So I could see somebody being a little annoyed. It’s great for a place to pitch a tent for a night on your way to somewhere else, which is what we did.The whatever: you’re in Moab, it could be quite hot in the middle of summer. The sites are basically sand, so you’re going to have sandy equipment. There are propane grills, games, ice for sale, clean drinking water, hand carts, plenty of parking mostly shaded, and lots of trash cans and recycling bins.
Jun 27, 2025 · Josh Norrisi had a great stay here. staff will come check on things and clean. campground is in the middle of moab so everything is very accessible. there are showers and bathrooms. also a place to wash your dishes. they have soap and sponges. the campground is right next to a high school, so you can hear the bells and any announcements they make. the garbage trucks come for the dumpsters at 5 am most mornings, bring earplugs or an extra pillow. you can hear the flow of the city around you. you will wake up at 7 am every day due to noise. i went here alone and felt very safe. good vibes on everyone that stays here.
Apr 06, 2025 · Edlynn AnnaI came only for the shower. $6 cash or venmo find someone in charge and pay them first, very clean, basically empty the whole time I was there 9am on a Tuesday, hot water and no limit to how much water. 2 hangers for your stuff and a clean bench to put your stuff on also. Very spacious shower. Parking lot easy and private. Awesome experience
Mar 31, 2025 · ModRebel MockupsNice campground inside Moab city. Restrooms and showers were super clean. Well managed property. Arches NP is 5 miles away and you get to enjoy the city as well.
Jun 14, 2025 · M. Junaid HumayunWe made a last minute decision to stop in Moab for the night and looking for more of a true Moab experience, we decided to stay here. So glad we did! It's a beautiful place, clean, with plenty of shade trees, hot showers, and very clean bathrooms. It was nice and quiet at night, and only a short walk to restaurants and shopping. Dave was the perfect host; recommending Moab trails and renting us like new camping equipment (since we left all of ours at home and didn't want to buy new). We had so much fun! I would definitely camp here again.
