My family and I were a massive group of two cars— driving from Irvine, CA to Mammoth Mountain on a Friday evening in July at 8pm —it goes without saying, there were VERY sparse sites available. We called the recreation coordinator at Twin Lakes to figure out where to go and Trudy was absolutely wonderful. She helped us with finding a space last minute with very minimal availability. We were all stressed because we had come so far and it was late, but she did not let us down! She contacted various camp hosts for us, despite poor phone connection, and figured out which site had space to accommodate our group. She gave us very clear instructions including how to pay for the site and how to get there, . There’s no way to reserve a spot that late, and it is first come first serve, so she also gave us some backup options if all else failed. We would have been completely lost without her. Thank you Trudy @ Inyo Recreation. As for the campground, we had an AMAZING weekend!! We took our inflatable boat out on the water, and barbecued by the lake. There was even a free trolley ride with a historic story-time on the way to the lake it was very fun for kids and adults. The campground was spacious. We enjoyed the gorgeous trees and beautiful trails. Clean bathrooms and a nice convenience store on site. I would definitely recommend. A great place for families, and everyone else! - Sophia Sarwary
