Tram Road Equestrian Campground

Campground ★4.0

2201 Rima Ridge Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174, USA

4.0
This is a great place to stay close to Daytona during bike week and with horses. Less than $10 a day. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the 4 camp sites only have one small corral per site. What is the point in that 99% of people have 2 horses when camping. That was a huge inconvenience cuz our horses need to see each other but can't be in the same stall together. But what I found frustrating they have a huge day use area with spots with 2 corrals. The rangers said we would be removed if we stayed in that site. No one that comes to ride in day use even uses the corrals. Yes we took a chance bringing a big unit when the website says no big units, but we managed to get in and work our way out. The trails were really nice. Would definitely come back - Rhonda Forsythe

Location and Accessibility

Tram Road Equestrian Campground is conveniently located at 2201 Rima Ridge Rd, Ormond Beach, FL 32174, USA, specifically within the Tiger Bay State Forest in Volusia County. This location places it approximately 10 minutes west of Ormond Beach, offering a blend of natural seclusion and reasonable proximity to urban amenities and popular attractions like Daytona Beach. For residents across Florida, particularly those in Central and Northeast Florida (such as Daytona Beach, Orlando, Gainesville, and Jacksonville), the campground is accessible via State Road 40.

To reach the campground, from Exit 268 on I-95, travel west on State Road 40 for 5.6 miles. Then, turn left onto Rima Ridge Road and travel 2.1 miles to Tram Road. Turn left again and travel east 0.1 mile to the Tram Road Equestrian Area entrance on your left. While the road leading in is described as a "dirt road" with "washboard," "soft sandy spots," and "some potholes" by visitors, it is generally navigable. One reviewer noted that even a "big unit" (large RV) managed to get in and out, though parking closer to the gate might be necessary for very large rigs. It's always advisable to drive cautiously, especially after rain, and be prepared for unpaved conditions. Despite the rustic access, the reward is a quiet and spacious camping environment that feels genuinely off the beaten path, yet remains conveniently close to the vibrant Daytona area, even during events like Bike Week.
