Thousand Trails Whalers Rest Reviews
Gorgeous area. Beautiful campground. Our first site was way too small for our rig, but park ranger Cindy was super-helpful getting us a bigger site. We didn't book a long enough stay to fully enjoy the area but we will definitely be back. Cindy was also very friendly and courteous on our way out.
Apr 27, 2025 · Dana PrinceI'm enjoying my stay here. This is my 2nd stay this summer. I've been very pleased with the new pre-assigned space process. Its reduced my stress on arrival, not having to search for a spot. Also, the sites I've been assigned have been perfect. They've also been sites I've never had a chance to use in the past 10 years I've been coming here because they're never available when I arrive.I'm enjoying this process so well, I'm almost concerned about how it will be when they shift to allowing us to select our site in the next phase. The computerized system is working so well, in my opinion. In addition to the sites, I'm enjoying the trails in the park area in the center of the South side of the campground.
Jun 22, 2025 · Cecily BrownI camp at Whalers Rest whenever I can. It is a beautiful campground, full amenities and located on a fun stretch of the Oregon coast. I have had great luck crabbing and clamming in Waldport, and the town of Newport has all the amenities you might need. And it still feels calm and serene and remote.
Jun 03, 2025 · Bill JoyceCorporate is at it again screwing us all over! They are trying to say that 90% of their members wanted assigned campsites. Well I never received a questionnaire or ballot nor has anybody else that I have spoken with. It is totally screwed up. The computer assignes you to a site but it doesn't know your wants and needs are. It assigns you to a site period and if you don't like it then you can just leave. Which then allows corporate to give that site to the General Public and charge them $77 a night. Corporate greed at its worst. Everyone I have spoken with is very angry and unfortunately they are taking it out on the employees who don't seem to like it anymore than we do.
Jun 01, 2025 · Brenda NoblesComing here was a mistake, this campground caters to long term and is not short term friendly, they crammed us into a spot with 2 other campers in a space that should be a single, the one in the middle has absolutely no room to be outside, The reservation process is a complete dumpster fire, can't choose a site, they say to reserve online but need to also call to complete and still don't receive a site until arrival. They advertise WiFi but there was none at our site, no Verizon cell service anywhere in the park, too heavy tree canopy for satellite, sites are crammed in everywhere with heavy emphasis on quantity, not quality,
