The Outpost - New River Gorge Campground Reviews
The welcome at reception was great, lovely set up, we had a campsite on the lower outpost, not far from the main washroom but we were really close to the outdoor shower and there are porta loo’s in the lower campground. My husband loved the outdoor shower, I really enjoyed the main showers, really clean and hot.We had a picnic table and place to have a camp fire - they’ve thought of everything here - we really enjoyed our stay. We had tent site 26The only downside was that we struggled with securing our tent pegs because of hard ground a few inches down, so took us a while to figure out the best place to secure our tent properly with some modifications! We took our dog and it was super dog friendly there. A definite recommend from us!
May 01, 2025 · Rhian DaviesThe grounds were nice, clean, and within 10 minutes to most attractions. We arrived later than checkin, so we called ahead for firewood, and it was delivered to our site for our arrival. Bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. My only con is that we are used to camping farther away from the highway, so you could hear traffic passing close by if you are in a tent. It wasn't too bad though because traffic wasn't heavy on that road.
Jun 15, 2025 · Amber RoseThe Outpost has to be my absolute favorite campground in existence! We made a spontaneous trip to the area, and then last minute realized we didn't have a place to stay. After a quick search of campgrounds in the area, we found this absolute gem! Customer service was top notch. The grounds were so well respected and free of litter. Everything was lit enough to guide your way to the bathrooms and showers, but dim enough to not ruin the experience of a sky full of stars. We were even pleasantly surprised with a big gathering area with a campfire and live music!
Apr 01, 2025 · Kyle JamesThis is a really nice and well-maintained campground, the music venue is really cool. Having said that, the food was not that great. We ordered a pizza and it was Pizza sauce and cheese on a flat piece of dough. Also having some popular beers like Bud Light or Budweiser at your bar would be great. If you guys would’ve had Bud Light, I would’ve gone back to the bar every 15 minutes for a drink. The campgrounds however, are amazing. You guys have really nice property. The spring concert was awesome!
Apr 21, 2025 · daryll proudSuperb camping facility tucked away in Fayetteville just off Station Road. Our Rustic Cabin shelter was perfect for a rainy getaway to the Wild and Wonderful. The Outpost saved us from the elements, without compromising the camping experience. Multiple amenities available across a vast property site. Super friendly staff who worked together as a team to ensure a safe, clean, and respectable environment for all to dwell. The Bathhouse was super clean and the grounds were looked after with love and dedication. Come and get your ‘Almost Heaven’ snapshot at the Outpost!
