- First-Come, First-Served Access: The non-reservation policy for standard sites can be a "special offer" for spontaneous adventurers, allowing them to escape on a whim without prior planning.
- Year-Round Access: The ability to camp even in the off-season at reduced rates provides a unique opportunity to experience the park's tranquility during quieter times.
For the most current information on rates and any specific policies, campers should consult the Ohio Department of Natural Resources website or contact the park office directly. Any official statewide promotions or seasonal discounts for Ohio State Parks would be communicated through ODNR channels.

The Campground at Strouds Run State Park Reviews
Camp here regularly. Well kept, clean and quiet. Not too far from Athens in case you forget anything. Potable water, dump stations, picnic tables, fire rings with grates, vault restrooms that are clean but you do need to use a light after dark!
May 31, 2025 · Rebecca AllenI stayed for a one night camping trip, nicely kept and quiet campground that is close to anything you might need. The hiking trails are well established, but not extremely well marked. The campground is non electric, self check in station, but has potable water and a dump station for self contained units. Dow lake is great.for kayaking and fishing, but you will either have to use a cart to transport or drive to the lake from the campground. The pads are in good condition and respectable size, placement of the fire ring was interesting on the site I stayed on. Great place to get away, marginal cell signal with Verizon.
Apr 30, 2024 · Jeffrey ChandlerAlthough pretty basic, I was pleasantly surprised by this smaller campground. While it lacks electric and showers, the pit toilets were clean and didn't smell as they have nice vanilla air fresheners inside them. I rented one of their two primitive cabins which was decent for only $45 a night. They have two sets of bunks which have basic mattresses. You'll need to bring your own bedding and lighting. The site had a couple of picnic tables and of course a fire pit. The place also wasn't crowded at all for a really nice late April weekend. It's also really close to Athens in case you wanted to grab food and supplies. Found drier wood at Kroger which is recommended over what they had on site at the boathouse. Overall, this place is a great option for those looking for something a little more simple. Recommended!

Sep 19, 2024 · Diane BentleyNice place to stop. It's really close to Athens. Great access to the Windy 9. $20/night for a site. The facilities and campsites were clean. I would definitely return.
