Tahquamenon State Park - Lower Falls Hemlock Reviews
This is a beautiful campground with generous sites. We camped in the Hemlock loop. All site have only electricity, but there is a nice fill station for water. The restrooms are modern and clean. It's about a mile from here to the Lower Falls, the road is suitable for biking. About a 4-mile drive to the Upper Falls.
Jul 02, 2025 · JoAnne OwensWas at 174. Was my first time camping and it was the perfect place for it! Our site was right by the primitive toilets and just a little ways from the showers and regular bathrooms. Showers are a little dated and there was some time with cold water but I didn’t mind it. Was clean and nice! Is close to the trail for the lower falls which is great! And only 3 miles from the upper falls. There is a trail that’s 4 miles to the upper falls but I didn’t try it this time. Have heard it’s a little harder then the other trails so will need to plan for that one next time!
Aug 28, 2023 · Sam MasonCampground is clean and falls are beautiful but the facilities are ALL closed (for the season, as of 10/15) despite the Hemlock loop being open. Bathrooms are locked, drinking fountains and campground water spigots are off except one central well. So, be more prepared for this than we were. This was not at all clear online, but may have been lost in all the warnings about other campgrounds here closed for renovations.
Oct 19, 2024 · Jacqueline PeacockVery nice facilities and well kept park! The spots are fairly close together, so on a fully booked night it's not quite a secluded atmosphere. Well treed lots, each space comes with a fire pit and a picnic table. Our spot (166) the ground was very hard, as it seems most people camp here with a trailer, so make sure to bring a mallet to hammer in your pegs if you're pitching a tent. There is also a dispenser of wood bundles that takes bills and cards only, but also a person drives around a truck of bundles for cash (currently 6.00 a bundle). Dogs are welcomed and there seems to be a lot of them!
Sep 12, 2023 · Pat EmeryA lovely campsite with an automated firewood vending machine. Very handy! And a well marked, easy to follow trail that leads directly to the lower falls. Makes for a nice morning hike!Though the vault toilets could use some more attention. There needs to be a posting about leaving the toilet lids down. There was that awful smell and trash everywhere!
