For Louisianans, the desire to escape the everyday hustle and immerse oneself in the state's unique natural beauty is a common pursuit. While our vibrant culture and delicious cuisine are world-renowned, the tranquility of our rural landscapes offers a different kind of enrichment. Tucked away in Loranger, LA, Sweetwater RV Ranch & Riding Stables presents a compelling option for locals seeking a peaceful and nature-filled retreat. This campground, known for its serene atmosphere and friendly owners, offers a distinct experience that caters to both short-term guests and those looking for a longer-term connection with the quiet side of Louisiana.
Sweetwater RV Ranch & Riding Stables is a destination that prioritizes peace and natural immersion. Visitors consistently describe it as "clean, quiet and full of nature," making it an ideal spot for those who truly wish to unwind and disconnect from the noise of urban life. While it has evolved over the years, with a shift in its offerings, its fundamental charm as a tranquil escape remains. The presence of animals like horses, cows, donkeys, goats, and chickens on the property adds a delightful, rustic touch, particularly appealing to families and animal lovers. Walking up to the "little ranch" to see these creatures contributes to the authentic rural experience that many Louisianans seek.
Although horseback riding may not be as prominent an offering as in years past (with reviews noting only a couple of horses in the field), the overall ambiance of a friendly, natural ranch environment prevails. The owners are frequently praised as "extremely sweet," with their warm hospitality significantly enhancing the visitor experience. This personal touch fosters a welcoming atmosphere that makes guests feel at home, encouraging repeat visits. For those with dogs, Sweetwater RV Ranch is a "dog-friendly" location, ensuring that furry family members can also enjoy the peaceful setting and outdoor adventures.
The campground provides essential amenities for a comfortable stay. A pool offers a refreshing respite during Louisiana's warm months, and a "small nature trail mowed out in a field with a little woods" provides a gentle invitation for leisurely strolls and wildlife observation. Visitors often report seeing deer and "plenty of beautiful, wild birds," highlighting the rich natural ecosystem that thrives within and around the property. This allows campers to truly engage with the local flora and fauna, experiencing the quiet wonders of Louisiana's countryside.
It's worth noting that Sweetwater RV Ranch & Riding Stables has a significant number of "residents that are there permanently or an extended period for work." While this means fewer spots may be available for transient guests, it also contributes to a stable, quiet, and well-maintained community atmosphere. For those who do secure a spot, whether for a short visit or an extended stay, the peaceful setting and natural beauty offer a genuinely enjoyable experience. The potential for further development of areas like the "ranch, bunk house, and little restaurant area that is closed" hints at a future where even more amenities might be available, but for now, its current offerings are sufficient for a relaxing and nature-filled retreat.

Sweetwater RV Ranch & Riding Stables Reviews
I've been to this campground quite a few years back. They used to offer horseback riding but now I only see two horses in the field with cows and donkeys. It is enjoyable to see them, though and to walk up to the little ranch with goats and chickens, etc. Needless to say, I don't think they offer that anymore. There isn't much else to do aside from a pool and a small nature trail mowed out in a field with a little woods. Most of the campground is now full of residents that are there permanently or an extended period for work, but there are a few spots still for guests. This may be very enjoyable for some, it is clean, quiet and full of nature. Sometimes you see deer and there are plenty of beautiful, wild birds. I just feel there is so much potential for the ranch, bunk house, and little restaurant area that is closed. Nonetheless we enjoyed our time and the owners are extremely sweet.
