It’s a place where simplicity meets stunning natural beauty, designed for campers who appreciate tranquility, cleanliness, and direct access to Maine’s unique coastal environment. As locals, we understand the charm of a hidden gem, and Sunset Point Campground certainly fits that description, providing an ideal escape to unwind and reconnect with nature.
Sunset Point Campground is wonderfully situated at 24 Sunset Point Rd, Harrington, ME 04643, USA. This address places it in the heart of Downeast Maine, a region renowned for its rugged coastline, charming fishing villages, and less-traveled paths compared to some of the more bustling areas of the state. For Maine residents, accessing Harrington is typically a scenic drive, often involving US Route 1, which winds through picturesque towns and alongside the stunning shoreline. The campground's location on a "point" means it offers exceptional water views, a key highlight for many visitors.
Accessibility to the campground itself is straightforward, with the address leading directly to the property. While it offers a sense of peaceful seclusion, it's still conveniently located enough to serve as a base for exploring the wider Downeast region. Day trips to places like Acadia National Park (though about an hour's drive), Lubec with its West Quoddy Head Lighthouse (the easternmost point in the U.S.), and even Campobello Island in Canada (don't forget your passport!) are all feasible from this location. The convenience of being able to explore coastal towns, indulge in fresh seafood from local docks, and return to a peaceful campsite by the water makes Sunset Point a truly appealing choice for Maine locals looking for a coastal adventure that feels both remote and accessible. The drive itself becomes part of the experience, offering glimpses of Maine's authentic character.

While Sunset Point Campground may not always advertise large-scale, ongoing promotions in the way a big resort might, they do offer competitive rates and value-added services that appeal to campers. Their rates vary by site type (tent, electric/water, or full hookup) and duration (daily, weekly, monthly), allowing flexibility for different budgets and trip lengths. For example, tent sites typically range from $35-$50 per night, with weekly rates around $230-$330. RV sites with hookups range from $40-$50 daily, with weekly options from $260-$330 and monthly from $1000-$1200.
It is always recommended to contact Sunset Point Campground directly or visit their official website to inquire about any current specials or discounts. Some older sources indicate they may offer discounts for Good Sam or Escapees club members, so it's worth checking if these are still applicable. The unique offering of fresh, cooked lobster delivered to your site, though a paid service, is a significant value-add and a truly memorable experience that acts as its own kind of special offer. While the campground is known for being quiet and does not feature "manufactured entertainment," the peace, cleanliness, stunning views, and the warm hospitality of the owners are the real promotions that keep campers coming back. Sunset Point Campground Reviews
The spot we had was very roomy and had a great view. Owner was very nice and helpful. Bathrooms were clean.
May 05, 2025 · Renee TaylorMy fiancé and I stayed here and we had a wonderful time. We were able to camp right by the water and wake up to an once an breeze. It was such a great and peaceful experience that we had a hard time leaving and usually by the end of a three day camping trip I am ready to get back to society. There were so many charming touches that I really appreciated for example there was music playing in the bathroom and the bathrooms were extremely clean. There was a for sale sign outside, we are hoping the owners don’t sell because we truly loved staying here and can’t wait to come back
Jul 21, 2024 · Siobhan RodgersAbsolutely fell in love with this place the 2 weeks we were here. Had a full hook up site overlooking the water. Lived how much room we had. Little over a hour drive to bar harbor and acadia! Bathrooms clean ,showers were hot, and also have on-site laundry. Everyone was very friendly. Recommend this one if trying to avoid the crowds.
Jul 30, 2024 · Joe LesherHad a wonderful stay at Sunset Point. Sites are large, private, and very well maintained. The grounds are charming. There are manicured trails along the water, wooded trails complete with apple trees, a floating dock, benches to take in the amazing views, and rocky outcrops to get close to the water. The bath house is rustic campground in style but very clean. The sunsets are absolutely gorgeous when the weather cooperates. The office has a book and DVD lending library, and sells soft drinks and wood for very reasonable prices. If you are looking for a quiet place to relax, disconnect, and enjoy the simplicity of watching the tides ebb and flow, this is the place. The camground staff and guest were all very warm and inviting. I can't say enough about this place.
Aug 16, 2023 · Mark ImpomeniVery manicured campground. Owners are very nice. Great quiet location, we had a site out looking the bay. A hour from Canada and an hour from bar harbor. We did have full hookups, but this campground offers tent sites, and partial and dry camping.
