May 27, 2025 · Gerard EllisA bottom-tier campground. Perhaps I’m spoiled by the Michigan state park campgrounds, but there was little redeeming value. The ranger station at entry has a bunch of hostile, handwritten signs warning of the various don’ts. A COMBINED fill and dump station had a SINGLE line with a very menacing tire spike that would punish anyone trying to go the wrong way. (Why is this even a thing? Who benefits from a disabled RV stuck in the dump line?!) The sites are either in dense woods or open sun; not a great balance. There’s no bike or pedestrian path to the park—have to drive the 1.6 miles. And the bathrooms, which are not centrally located, had 1/3 working stalls (both in men’s and women’s). Overall, just a very unwelcoming, sub-par campground.
Jun 20, 2025 · Aaron FremuthNice campground. Pretty and well maintained. Helpful staff and great security. Gate closes at 10. Not very many water taps. Good idea to fill tank before parking RV.
May 29, 2025 · Lorraine ThompsonWe enjoyed our time at Starved Rock State Park. The campground is nice with plenty of space in between the sites but the need to do something about the restrooms/showers on the east loop where we stayed. The two loops in the campground each with a shower house. The west loop is pretty open with some trees for shade and has two vault toilet locations on the loop. The west loop is mostly thick trees with lots of shade and privacy however there are no vault toilets in the loop but they did drop a few porta potties. One of the showers on this loop was out of service in mens' and womens' side leaving one shower for the entire loop.
Jun 13, 2025 · Jerry AdamsNot a very good campground. Need to mow and trim. Restrooms and showers need lots of improvement. Pit toilets are terrible. Camp hosts don't do much. Definitely will NOT camp here again.
