Springfield Campground Introduce
Hello, fellow South Carolinians! If you're looking for a peaceful and scenic spot to get away from it all, Springfield Campground in Anderson is a destination worth considering. Nestled on the beautiful shores of Lake Hartwell, this campground and park offers a true escape into nature. It's an ideal spot for those who appreciate spacious campsites with great views and a tranquil atmosphere. Whether you’re setting up your RV or pitching a tent, Springfield Campground provides a comfortable setting for your outdoor adventure. The natural beauty of the area is a major draw, with the lake providing a stunning backdrop for all your activities. It's a place where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy the simple pleasures of camping without feeling crowded. The campground's layout and design prioritize giving campers a sense of privacy and space, which is a significant factor in creating a relaxing experience. The atmosphere is generally quiet and serene, which is perfect for anyone looking to recharge and escape the daily grind. The friendly and helpful staff, as noted in a recent review, also contribute to the welcoming environment, making you feel at home from the moment you arrive. It’s a great example of a local gem that provides a peaceful and scenic experience. The availability of both RV and tent sites also makes it a versatile destination that can accommodate a variety of camping styles and preferences, from those who want the full hookup experience to those who prefer a more traditional approach. This blend of natural beauty and practical amenities is what makes Springfield Campground a compelling choice for your next getaway in South Carolina.
The experience at Springfield Campground, like many places, is a mix of highs and lows. The positive reviews consistently praise the beautiful location and the spaciousness of the campsites. One camper described their pull-through site, #20, as "pretty level" with "good spacing between spots" and a "great view of the lake." This is a significant point for RVers who value ease of setup and a nice view. The peaceful atmosphere is also a highlight, with one reviewer noting that the campground was "very peaceful." The friendliness of the staff, like Theresa who "greeted me on my way in and was very friendly," is a recurring theme that adds a personal touch to the experience. Another camper mentioned how a "nice gentleman" returned their dropped driver's license, which speaks to the sense of community and helpfulness among both staff and guests. The campground is also a good spot for pets, with one visitor noting that while the main beach area is "no dogs allowed," they were able to find a few spots where their dog could go in the water. This flexibility is a huge plus for pet owners. The campground’s physical amenities include a playground with slides and swings, making it a "good for kids" destination. The presence of barbecue grills and picnic tables also makes it easy to enjoy a meal outdoors. However, there are significant issues raised in other reviews, particularly regarding the bathhouses. One review from a camper gave the bathhouses a one-star rating, citing a lack of soap, no exterior lights, uneven sidewalks, and stalls with "no privacy." The showers were also described as "not clean and again filled with bugs." This negative feedback about the state of the bathhouses is a major concern, especially for those who rely on public facilities without a sewer hookup at their site. The review also clarified a distinction between "bathrooms" (toilets only) and "bathhouses" (showers and toilets), a detail that could be confusing for first-time visitors. It’s a clear example of where an otherwise great location is let down by the condition of its key facilities. Prospective campers, especially those without full hookups, should be aware of these issues and plan accordingly. The campground is best suited for those who are self-sufficient and can rely on their own RV amenities, minimizing the need for the public bathhouses. This way, you can fully enjoy the beautiful sites and the serene atmosphere without the drawback of the facility's shortcomings.
The physical location of Springfield Campground is its strongest asset. Being right on Lake Hartwell provides incredible views and opportunities for water-based fun, from boating and fishing to simply enjoying the shoreline. The spacious campsites, many of which are pull-through, make it easy to maneuver larger RVs. The availability of electric and water hookups at the RV sites adds to the convenience, ensuring a comfortable stay. For tent campers, the site also offers dedicated tent areas with basic amenities. The public areas, including the playground, are great for families, and the presence of picnic tables and barbecue grills encourages outdoor meals and gatherings. The campground’s accessibility features, such as a wheelchair-accessible car park, entrance, and toilet, show a commitment to being an inclusive space. The free on-site parking is another convenient feature. While the issues with the bathhouses are a concern, the positive feedback about the campsites themselves, their spacing, and the overall peaceful environment should not be overlooked. The beautiful view of the lake, the ample shade in the afternoons, and the friendly interactions with staff and other campers create a memorable experience. It's a place that seems to be a mixed bag, but for those who are prepared and have a self-contained RV, the pros—the location, the space, and the peace—outweigh the cons. The natural beauty and tranquility are what draw people in, and for many, that's what a great camping trip is all about. The park's potential is immense, and addressing the noted issues with the bathhouses would elevate it to a top-tier destination. As it stands, it’s a wonderful place for those who are well-equipped and looking for a beautiful spot to relax by the lake.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Presently camping here! Theresa greeted me on my way in and was very friendly and excited that I was towing and camping on my own! I dropped my driver's license when I pulled out my camping permit, and a nice gentleman brought it to me! My space, #20 is a pull-through and pretty level . There's good spacing between spots, and I have a great view of the lake, too. Not much shade in the morning, but good afternoon shade. I don't know if it's always like this (I suppose it depends on the campers), but it's been very peaceful. The only part I wish were different is the lake shore, in many spots, has been built-up with rocks and covered with heavy- duty wire for erosion control. The nice beach is no dogs allowed, but luckily, I found a few spots where my dog could go in!
April 28 · Cherie MascisThe campground is beautiful, the campsites are spacious and clean. #28 is a pull through and right by the swimming area. Lots of room with a great view. The only reason we gave it a 3/5 stars was because of the bathhouse. Please note they have bathrooms, which are only toliets, and they have bathhouses that include showers and toliets. Because our site doesn't have sewer hook, we booked it close to the bathroom. Again, not realizing the bathrooms don't have showers.First, both the bathrooms and bathhouses do not have soap. There was no dispensers for soap. The bathrooms were fine, with no issues other than lack of soap. The bathhouses, on the other hand, were one star! I have included photos. Walking to the bathhouse closest to our site, there were no exterior lights. The sidewalk was uneven and downhill. Inside was filled with every type of bug. The stall doors were so small that there was no privacy. Honestly, it didn't even cover your legs. The showers were not clean and again filled with bugs.

May 02 · Kenji “Ken-D” YamadaGreat COE campground. Clean, nice restrooms, great physical characteristics ( site was level)! Not crowded but also not high season.
May 25 · Katy K.Very peaceful and well maintained campground! We stayed in site #52. Back-in site, level sand/small gravel, water and electric hook-ups. Facing the lake, with stairs to access the shore. Picnic table, grill, lantern hook, and fire pit. Foliage in between side sites provides privacy. The business side of the RV faces a small playground, with swings. There are Lots of Pull through and buddy sites here. Watercraft frequently seen in lake, along with swimming at individual sites. Most sites waterfront. Friendly staff greeted us at the guard gate when we arrived. They gave us a map, with directions to our site. Saw one small, clean bathroom, by designated swim area, anda bigger playground. There is also a bathhouse centrally located, in the campground. There is no AC in the bathhouse. CG Also provided life vests, hanging at swimming area. Big dumpsters at entrance/exit. There is also a dump station by the exit/entrance. Lots of local shopping and restaurants nearby. Highly recommend this campground. Only thing that would make it better, would be FHU!
