Spaulding Lake Campground Reviews
Overnight spot. Sites are very close. Fire pit right outside our door. Glad we didn’t have neighbors on either side. Lots of long term. Owner very nice and helpful. We had a pull through site. Very level and all hookups worked great. Our picnic table was new. It was a quiet place even with the rowdy bunch behind us. They were reviving their motorcycles, drinking beer, and making lots of noise. They did stop around 11pm. Lots of people leaving in their trucks around 5am the next morning. Someone’s car alarm went off then too. Overall not a bad place to stop for a night or two. It is also close to Lake Michigan and Lions Park Beach. 35 minute drive.
Jul 02, 2025 · Debby BlackThis is an okay CG that is clean and well maintained. It is full of long term folks - looks like a lot of construction workers - but quiet at night. They either have a lot of enforcers that roam looking for infractions or the place is full of Karens. Just be prepared to get scolded for any perceived rule violation day or night.
Jun 25, 2025 · Randy RiggsWe travel all over the country for work, and this park is definitely one of the best. It’s quiet (other than a little road noise), clean (the laundry room is cleaner than our own at home!), peaceful (great for nature lovers), and the owners and caretakers clearly take pride in the property (they are constantly outside keeping it clean and well maintained). Unlike other parks, there are no loose animals, there is plenty of space between spots, we felt safe walking throughout the property, and there are no old property eye-sores that exist at many other RV parks. We will definitely be back, and we are so thankful for the kind folks who work here. *Also, it rained several days while we were there, but our spot never flooded. The sites are well-graveled and level.
May 03, 2023 · MARYANN BARNWELLThis campground wasn't as nice as the pictures online and we had some very inconsiderate neighbors. We had a pull through site across from the bathrooms (which I hate being near the bathrooms). The neighbors in the site behind us on the corner wanted everyone to hear their music, the revving of their motorcycles and constant yapping of their 4 dogs! It seems like a lot of day workers stay here - maybe road crew or nuclear power plant? - not the typical campground guests. The bathrooms were nice and clean but it didn't make up for the rest. We were only supposed to be there one night, but we didn't stay - left after just 5 hours. Couldn't take the redneck vibes. I wouldn't stay here again.
May 05, 2025 · Suzy FortsonSpaulding Lake Campground Niles, Michigan:This campground gives the appearance of being a bit older and well established as you enter. That doesn't mean that it's not well kept, because it is and the host we met was very pleasant. We had a pull through site and our site, like others here, was gravel and reasonably level. Being almost 70' long It was just a little bit short for us to comfortably park our truck with our rig so we parked in a parking section directly across from us.During our stay it was pleasantly quiet and our 50 amp full hook up utilities were consistent throughout our stay. Each site that we noticed had a fire ring and a picnic table alongside them. There is also free WiFi here as well but like most campgrounds, it isn't the strongest or most consistent. They list having four lakes but they are really just large ponds, good enough for kids to drop a fishing line in but we sure weren't going to put our kayaks in just to go in a 100 foot circle. We also walked the hiking trails that they say they have. Unless we missed something, most of them were only clear for a hundred feet or so and then you could not go any further. This campground has one of the largest playgrounds for kids I have ever seen and multiple places to walk your dog on a leash. There is no fenced dog area for playtime though and no pool. There is a rec hall, but it looks as through it's full of stuff and hasn't been used for awhile. The bath houses were clean and well maintained and the office has a very small store for camping items. All In all, we wouldn't mind staying here again when passing through.
