Snydermill Recreation Camp Introduce
As Utah locals, we know that finding the perfect spot for a large group gathering or a peaceful family retreat can be a challenge. We have a special place that fits this need perfectly: Snydermill Recreation Camp. This isn't your typical public campground with individual sites; instead, it's a unique facility designed to accommodate large groups, making it an excellent choice for family reunions, youth conferences, and other major get-togethers. Operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, the camp offers a serene and well-maintained environment where you can truly connect with your group and with nature. This article will provide you with a comprehensive and factual overview of Snydermill Recreation Camp, detailing its unique location, the amenities it offers, and what makes it such a wonderful choice for a group escape right here in our beautiful state.
Snydermill Recreation Camp is located at 5875 UT-224, Park City, UT 84098, USA. Its location is a key part of its appeal. As highlighted by a reviewer, the camp is "literally just south of the Winter Olympic Sports Park and outlets in Park City," which means it is incredibly convenient and easy to access. However, despite being so close to a major hub, the camp's setting is surprisingly secluded. You drive up a short dirt road to reach the facility, and by the time you arrive, you are "deep in the forest and it's quiet and peaceful." This perfect blend of accessibility and seclusion makes it an ideal spot for a group that wants to feel away from it all without the hassle of a long, difficult drive. The convenience of being just a few minutes away from a Walmart and various outlets is also a huge plus, ensuring that if you forget something, a quick trip is all it takes to solve the problem.
Snydermill Recreation Camp offers a variety of services and amenities that are particularly well-suited for large groups. These are not standard public campground features; they are designed for group convenience and comfort.
Lodge Facilities: The camp has a large lodge with a huge, fully stocked kitchen. This is a game-changer for large groups, as it includes things like a stove, oven, fridge, and electrical outlets for various appliances. It makes meal preparation for dozens of people a simple task. The main eating area is also huge, providing ample space for everyone to gather and enjoy meals together. This is a major service that sets Snydermill apart from a typical camping venue.
Essential Amenities: The camp provides public restrooms and public showers, which are clean and well-kept. A minor note from a review is that some doors in the girls' restroom might be a little difficult to latch, requiring a bit of a lift to get them to lock properly. The camp also has picnic tables available, offering a great space for outdoor meals and casual get-togethers.
Family and Youth Friendly: Snydermill is explicitly noted as a "Children's camp" and is "good for kids." It has a playground in the lower area with a fire pit nearby, perfect for evening gatherings and fun for all ages. The entire facility is set up to accommodate a large group of youth and leaders, with separate bedroom areas, making it a wonderful place for girls' camps or other youth activities.
On-Site Parking: While the camp feels secluded, there is a dedicated on-site parking lot. This is a major convenience for a large group, as it provides a central location for everyone to park and easily access their vehicles if needed during the stay.
The true highlights of Snydermill Recreation Camp are the unique and memorable experiences it provides, as noted by past visitors.
Peaceful and Secluded Atmosphere: Despite its proximity to a major city, the camp’s location in the forest provides a quiet and peaceful environment. This seclusion allows groups to focus on their activities and on each other without the distractions of a busy public area. It's a serene retreat that feels like it’s miles from anywhere.
Wildlife Sightings: As one reviewer mentioned, you can see deer and other wildlife walking around, and they even saw a mother moose feeding her baby right outside the kitchen door! This is a magical and unforgettable highlight, adding a sense of wonder and connection with nature to your stay.
Caretakers on Site: The camp is run by "senior missionaries, who are very helpful." They are on hand to check you in and out and can even assist if you forget something, providing a layer of support and service that you won't find at a public campground. This personal touch ensures your group's stay is smooth and hassle-free.
Well-Equipped Lodge: The fully stocked kitchen and huge eating area are significant highlights. They make a large group gathering not only possible but comfortable and efficient. Having a piano and a large balcony also adds to the communal feel and provides more space for activities and relaxation.
Perfect for Organized Groups: Snydermill is an ideal venue for Church-related activities like youth conferences and girls' camps, as it is owned and operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It provides a structured, clean, and well-managed environment for these types of organized events, with beautiful scenery and activities available for planning.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A great place to go for a large get-together. My one observation is that two years in a row the doors in the girls restroom haven't locked easily. You have to lift the door to get the latch to hook which is quite hard.
August 25 · Lauren KellerWe held our girls' camp there in the summer of 2018. We had a large group of about 50 with Young Women and leaders. This is a Camp that is owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Accessibility was awesome-it's, literally just south of the Winter Olympic Sports Park and outlets in Park City, but you drive up a dirt road for a few minutes so by the time you arrive at the lodge, you are deep in the forest and it's quiet and peaceful. The facility is clean and well kept. There are deer and other wildlife walking around if you don't scare them off. We saw a mother moose feeding her baby right outside the kitchen door! This Camp is run by senior missionaries, who are very helpful. There are 2 parts of this Camp-we stayed in the larger lodge. It had a huge, fully stocked kitchen, with things to use and cook with, and a stove, oven, fridge, electrical outlets for appliances, like crockpots, electric skillets, etc. The main eating area is huge, had a piano, a large balcony you could go look outside, with a staircase that led down to a trail to the parking lot. We held our activities there. There were 2 bedrooms & 1 bathroom on either side of the kitchen for Priesthood/cooking staff and downstairs, with several bedrooms with bunkbeds, bathroom/showers, etc. The Senior missionaries check you in and out (after you clean). If you forget something, the missionaries often have things to help or you can just run up the street to the WalMart/Outlet areas and be there in about 5 minutes. There was beautiful scenery and activities to do-you have to reserve it ahead, though, and they can explain the amenities. No lake to canoe around in or anything, but there was a playground and fire pit in the lower area. Great for family reunions, Youth Conferences, YSA activities and Girls' Camps! We had all of our activities well planned and this turned out to be a wonderful facility to use and just enjoy the surroundings without the set up and clean up of the usual tents.
