Snowbank Campground

Campground ★4.0

Mill Creek Rd, Livingston, MT 59047, USA

4.0
Great quiet campground. The host on the other hand made it unpleasant. From the parking on the road by our site and just watching us get things ready for the night or the next morning trying to get me to pay more. He told me that we didn't pay enough and that I was too young to have an access pass and don't get the pass discount. When I argued he told me to wait for him to go make a phone call. We packed up and an hour later he still hadn't come back. Stopped at the front on the way out and he was just hanging out at his camper. Checked the sign and there it was access pass $10. - steve baker

Located in the beautiful region of Livingston, Montana, this quiet campground is a cherished spot for locals and travelers seeking a true outdoor escape. It is an ideal base camp for a variety of activities, from day trips into Yellowstone National Park to exploring the magnificent Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness. The campground's serene atmosphere, with the soothing sounds of the creek as a backdrop, provides the perfect environment for relaxation and reconnecting with nature. While it is a secluded and rustic setting, its proximity to both Livingston and Yellowstone offers a great balance of wilderness and accessibility. This is a place for campers who appreciate the simple beauty of a well-located, quiet spot, where the focus is on the natural surroundings rather than on modern conveniences.

The campground’s charm lies in its simplicity and its authentic Montana feel. It is set in a scenic forest of mature spruce and fir trees, providing ample shade and a sense of privacy for each site. The campground is well-suited for both tent campers and smaller RVs, with a few large spaces available. Visitors enjoy the area for its scenic natural beauty, and the opportunity for fishing and hiking is a major draw. A review from a satisfied camper highlighted their stay of ten days, praising its location for day trips to Yellowstone and Livingston, and the good fishing opportunities nearby. This indicates that Snowbank Campground excels as a hub for exploring the broader region. While some reviews mention mixed experiences with the camp host, the natural beauty and the overall quiet environment of the campground itself remain consistent points of praise, affirming its status as a great spot to stay.

In addition to the natural appeal, Snowbank Campground provides the essential amenities needed for a comfortable stay. The sites are equipped with picnic tables and campfire rings, which are perfect for cooking and gathering with family and friends. Snowbank Campground is located on Mill Creek Rd, Livingston, MT 59047, USA, approximately 29 miles south of the town of Livingston. Its location places it on the western edge of the Absaroka-Beartooth Wilderness, with a scenic forest of mature spruce and fir trees covering the area. The drive to the campground is part of the adventure itself, with the last several miles on a gravel road that can be rough but is generally well-maintained for most vehicles. Visitors should be aware that the campground is not recommended for RVs over 30 feet in length due to the nature of the access road and the size of the sites.

Livingston offers a variety of attractions, from art galleries and museums to restaurants and local breweries. The accessibility for smaller RVs and tents, along with on-site parking at each site, makes it a convenient and practical choice for many types of campers. The beauty of its location is that it feels far from the crowds, yet is still within reach of some of Montana's most popular destinations.
