Smoker Holler RV Resort Introduce
Hello, fellow Tennessee travelers! This campground is a great option for those who prioritize having essential full hookups and a convenient location without paying for a long list of amenities they may not use. It’s a simple and straightforward park that serves as an excellent home base for all your Smoky Mountain adventures. Situated in the picturesque Wears Valley, it provides a tranquil escape while being just a short drive from the area's top destinations. The resort's focus is on providing a clean, safe, and affordable place to stay, which is exactly what many RVers are looking for. It's a no-frills kind of place, and its value lies in its practicality and its great price point. Whether you’re stopping for a single night or planning a longer stay to explore the region, Smoker Holler RV Resort offers a simple solution that allows you to save your money for the area's attractions. The park is well-regarded for being a peaceful spot despite its proximity to the road, and the full hookups make for a very convenient stay. This allows you to have all the comforts of home while being surrounded by the natural beauty of the area. It’s a smart choice for the savvy traveler who knows that sometimes less is more, especially when it comes to maximizing their vacation budget.
As noted in several reviews, the primary appeal of Smoker Holler RV Resort is its combination of full hookups and economical pricing. One camper mentioned it's a "great place if you are looking for full hookups at an economical price." This is a significant point, as the cost of camping can add up quickly, especially in a popular tourist area. The same reviewer noted that the park's basic amenities—specifically mentioning "only a one-person bathroom with shower for your use"—are perfectly acceptable as long as your RV's shower and facilities are in working order. This perspective highlights the key demographic for this park: RV owners who are self-sufficient and value affordability over luxury features like a pool or multiple bathhouses. Another customer shared a positive experience with a last-minute booking, praising the "super nice" lady who accommodated their late arrival and allowed them to pay on their way out. This kind of flexibility and trust from the management is a huge plus and speaks to the personal, family-owned nature of the business. The review stated, "It's a simple place with hookups tucked in the woods," which perfectly captures the park's essence. While some might be concerned about road noise from Wears Valley Road, a camper noted that it didn’t bother them and that the AC or furnace in their RV easily drowned out any sound. This is a common and practical solution for many campers. The campground seems to have a mix of long-term residents and nightly visitors, which can contribute to a sense of community and stability. The owner is noted to check in on guests, adding a layer of personal care and attention that you might not find at larger, corporate resorts. The positive feedback about the price and the overall service makes it clear that for the right kind of traveler, Smoker Holler RV Resort is an "awesome place" and a "great value." It’s an ideal spot for those who are focused on exploring the many attractions of the Smoky Mountains region and want a reliable and affordable base camp. The straightforward booking process and friendly service also make it a low-stress option for travel planning, particularly for those on a spontaneous trip. The resort's quiet and basic nature is exactly what many campers are seeking, providing a peaceful retreat from the more crowded and expensive options in the area.
The charm of Smoker Holler RV Resort lies in its simplicity. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, and that honesty is appreciated by its clientele. The park is nestled in the foothills of Round Top Mountain, providing a tranquil and scenic backdrop for your stay. It's an older, family-owned campground that has been in operation since 1896, and this history contributes to its laid-back and authentic feel. While some may see the limited amenities as a drawback, for others, it's the main selling point. The low-cost, full-service hookups for RVs are the star of the show, providing all the necessities—electric, water, and sewer—for a comfortable and hassle-free stay. This means you can keep your tanks empty and your appliances running without any concern, which is a huge convenience for any RVer. The availability of Wi-Fi is another modern touch that is a great asset for those who need to stay connected. The pet-friendly policy is also a major plus for many travelers who bring their furry companions along. The resort's location is a key highlight. It's perfectly situated between Pigeon Forge and Townsend, and just ten minutes from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This strategic placement gives you quick access to everything from thrilling amusement parks to peaceful hiking trails. You can spend your days exploring Dollywood, The Island, or the many other attractions in the area, and then return to the quiet comfort of your campsite. The balance of being close to the action while still offering a peaceful retreat is a major benefit. Smoker Holler RV Resort is a testament to the idea that a great campground doesn't need to be flashy to be effective. It provides a clean, safe, and affordable place to stay with friendly service, and for many people, that's all that matters. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1A great place if you are looking for full hookups at an economical price in the area. No pool and basically only a one person bathroom with shower for your use. As long as your shower is working in your RV this is an awesome place to leave a little $$ in your pocket to enjoy your stay in the area. A little noise from the road that is not far from the campers but didn't bother me. Slept all night. The AC or Furnace drowns all that out anyway. Most in the park seems to be full-time in the outer perimeter with nightly stays in the interior. The owner takes care of the place and will check in with you from time to time. All considered I would definitely stay here again when in the area. At a monthly charge of $800 it seems priced right for what it is. No complaints.
December 09 · Mark EldridgeWe decided on this place last minute. We called and we're given a spot right away. We would arrive late for a 2 day stay. The lady was super nice, we stayed our full days without being asked to pay. The price was great, and we paid on our way out. I'd stay her again in a heartbeat if I was in the area. It's a simple place with hookups tucked in the woods.
October 26 · Tonya AyersNice, quiet and well maintained. The owner is very nice and helpful. It is located in Wears Valley which is less traveled but beautiful.
December 14 · Bill WadeBefore we got here I read all the reviews and began to second guess my decision. I am glad that we went ahead and decided to stay here.We knew we would be late getting in so we called ahead and the young lady 😉 who took my call was one of the nicest folks that I have dealt with at a camp ground. She even went two steps further by leaving a light on our campsite so that we knew which site was ours. That made it a whole lot easier being that we rolled in around 10 pm.Being totally honest. This is not a 5 star resort. Do not come here expecting an expansive layout. There is no pool, shuffle board area or bath house. But there are nice people and great views. And who ever made the comment about not being allowed to make friends with the campers obviously wasn’t a very friendly person. Everyone here is nice and good to talk with.So come here if you want a nice place to stay with good folks but stay away if you require more “creature” features.Dave Grantham
