Skull Island Campground Introduce
Nestled along the picturesque shores of Chickamauga Lake, Skull Island Campground in Harrison, Tennessee, offers a quintessential lakeside camping experience. This welcoming and family-friendly retreat provides a perfect blend of natural beauty and essential amenities, making it a favorite destination for locals and travelers alike. Whether you're pulling in with a large RV or setting up a tent for a more rustic feel, the campground offers a variety of options to suit your camping style. The name "Skull Island" adds a touch of playful mystery, but the experience itself is nothing short of relaxing and delightful, with hosts who are known for being brilliant and friendly.
The campground’s location on the lake is its defining feature, providing breathtaking views and a vibrant ecosystem teeming with wildlife. It’s a place where every sunset is a photo opportunity and every morning brings the possibility of spotting local fauna. Skull Island Campground is not just a place to stay; it’s a place to create memories, whether you're enjoying a quiet evening by the fire, casting a line into the lake, or simply soaking in the beauty of the Tennessee landscape. The campground is well-regarded for its accessibility and accommodating nature, welcoming everyone from families with kids to visitors with pets, ensuring that all can enjoy the serene environment.
Skull Island Campground is conveniently located at 10815 Birchwood Pike, Harrison, TN 37341, USA. Its position on Chickamauga Lake makes it a prime spot for water enthusiasts while still being easily accessible from major roads. For those traveling by RV, it's worth noting the steep incline into the park, which some visitors have mentioned requires a bit of caution. However, once you navigate the entry, you'll be rewarded with a spectacular lakeside setting and a variety of camping spots, many with stunning views of the water.
The campground's design and layout are intended to provide a comfortable experience for all visitors. The accessibility features, including a wheelchair-accessible car park and entrance, demonstrate a commitment to being an inclusive destination. While some spots, particularly those near the boat ramp, can be noisy late at night due to night fishing, this is a minor trade-off for the spectacular views and easy access to the water. Tent campers might prefer a spot further away from the ramp for a quieter experience, while RVers may be less bothered by the sound. The ease of access and the scenic location make it a top choice for a convenient yet beautiful getaway near Chattanooga.
Parking is made simple with both on-site parking and a free parking lot available for guests, which is a great convenience. This helps ensure that there is always space for your vehicle, regardless of where your campsite is located. The management's helpfulness is a key part of the accessibility, as they can provide advice and assistance to ensure a smooth arrival and stay, especially for those with larger vehicles or specific needs. This combination of a beautiful location and practical accessibility makes Skull Island Campground a great choice for a wide range of campers.

★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Our family enjoyed our two weeks at Skull Island immensely!! The lake was absolutely beautiful, teeming with wildlife and brightness. The hosts were brilliant and friendly. We were sorry to hear that the scavenger hunt is no more- ours kids would’ve loved it! Be careful on the steep incline into the park… the steps on our Class C were bent upon entry, unfortunately! We’ll definitely return!
May 24 · Rachel KrauseThis is my 2nd trip to this campground! The staff there is extremely nice and very helpful! They do a great job running the campground. The location of the campground is great, and the sunsets are amazing. My first trip I stayed (in a tent) towards the middle and had very little issue with any noises. This visit we were directly across from the boat ramp. The views were gorgeous, but if you are in a tent I don't recommend staying facing the boat ramp. It was super noisy from about 11pm until 4am from those night fishing. That wasn't an issue with anyone at the campground or the campground itself, and I'm sure would be much better in an RV than a tent.
April 21 · Jennifer HillWe had the most relaxing weekend at Skull Island - Site 31. Easy site to access with 38 ft. fifth wheel. To us it was the best site - water views out our back bedroom window as well as out front (a corner spot). There was a nice size grassy area in front for kids/pets to run around/play games. Quiet campground and super-friendly staff.
May 12 · Toni LandrusGreat little place! Campsites and restrooms were very clean and well maintained and the little store has thought of everything you could possibly need. Friendly and helpful staff. 10/10 great experience. We will definitely be back
April 28 · Cindel EdwardsAbsolutely love camping here! Would give a full five stars because it honestly has everything we love about a campground. Unfortunately my children look forward to the scavenger hunt each trip and we learned this weekend they no longer offer that 😕 would love to have that back as it really gets the children more excited about this campground compared to others.
