Silver Lake Park Introduce

Welcome to Silver Lake Park, a true West Virginia treasure nestled in the scenic landscapes of Eglon. For those of us in the Mountain State who appreciate a genuine, down-to-earth getaway, a place where generations return year after year, Silver Lake Park offers an unparalleled experience. This beloved campground isn't just a place to stay; it's a piece of local history, built in the 1930s around a man-made lake from 1928, evolving into a cherished destination for relaxation and adventure. It’s a place where the simple joys of nature and warm hospitality come together to create lasting memories.

Imagine waking up to the "morning mist" gently rising off the lake, a scene that has captivated visitors for decades. This serene beauty is a core part of the Silver Lake Park experience, as one long-time visitor fondly recalled: "Great memories waking up beside the lake in the morning mist." Whether you prefer the rustic charm of tent camping, as many have for years, or the comfort of a cabin, as families increasingly do, Silver Lake Park caters to a variety of preferences, all within a friendly and welcoming environment.

What truly sets Silver Lake Park apart is the genuine, heartfelt connection fostered by its owners, "Both Floyd's who run silver lake are very good down to earth people." This personal touch is evident in the strong loyalty of its visitors. One family raved, "Perfect getaway. My family and I have gone for years now. Started just throwing tents. But last couple years Ben getting cabins." This speaks volumes about the consistent positive experiences and the sense of belonging that campers feel here. The campground's long history, once a popular vacation spot featuring boating, swimming, picnicking, and even a restaurant and motel, underscores its deep roots in West Virginia's recreational heritage. While some elements have evolved, its core charm as a private campground with many seasonal sites and rental cabins remains.

For West Virginians, knowing that a place like Silver Lake Park exists – a place that prioritizes friendly service and provides a comfortable base for exploring our state's iconic attractions – is invaluable. Its proximity to natural wonders like Blackwater Falls and charming towns such as Davis and Thomas means endless opportunities for exploration. Many visitors enjoy "all the scenic roads" by motorcycle, truly embracing the beauty of our mountainous state. The affordability, highlighted by one visitor who was charged "1 dollar to camp in a tent" after the normal season (though current prices are different, as we’ll see), further solidifies its appeal as an accessible retreat.

If you're seeking a "perfect getaway" that combines scenic beauty, down-to-earth hospitality, and convenient access to some of West Virginia’s most beloved spots, you truly can't go wrong with Silver Lake Park. As a testament to its enduring appeal, one reviewer simply stated, "Nothing bad to say about silver lake!!" a sentiment shared by many who have made it their annual tradition.
