Showers Point Group Site Introduce
For many Arizonans, the summer heat calls for a quick and easy escape to the mountains. Just a short drive from Tucson, the majestic heights of Mount Lemmon offer a cool, forested sanctuary and a variety of camping opportunities. Among these, the Showers Point Group Site stands out as a premier destination designed specifically for larger gatherings. Whether you're organizing a family reunion, a scout troop trip, a large get-together with friends, or a community event, this campground provides the perfect backdrop for creating lasting memories. Its focus on accommodating groups makes it a practical and appealing choice for those who need more space and structure than a typical individual campsite offers.
The concept of a group site is particularly valuable in a popular recreation area like Mount Lemmon. It ensures that a large party can stay together, fostering a sense of community and making logistics much simpler. You don't have to worry about finding multiple single sites that are close to each other. At Showers Point, your entire group can be in one designated area, providing a more cohesive and enjoyable experience. This site is well-regarded for its cleanliness and overall maintenance, which speaks to a commitment to providing a high-quality environment for campers. It’s a place where you can feel confident bringing your family and friends, knowing the space is well-cared for.
Beyond the practical benefits, Showers Point offers a beautiful natural setting. Surrounded by tall pine trees and the fresh, crisp air of the high country, it's a world away from the desert floor below. The change in elevation brings a welcome drop in temperature, making it a favorite retreat during the warmer months. The site serves as an ideal base camp for exploring the numerous trails and scenic wonders of Mount Lemmon, from the stunning views at Windy Point to the charming village of Summerhaven. It truly embodies the best of Arizona’s mountain recreation, providing a serene and scenic place to relax and connect with loved ones.
It is important to note that like any managed public land, it operates under certain rules and with the presence of a host. While most experiences are positive, it's always wise to be informed about the specific regulations and to communicate clearly with any on-site staff to ensure a smooth and pleasant stay for everyone in your group.
The Showers Point Group Site is located on Mount Lemmon, a mountain island in the Santa Catalina Mountains, just north of Tucson. Its address is E Organization Ridge Rd, Mt Lemmon, AZ 85619, USA. This road is famous for its dramatic elevation changes, offering breathtaking views and a journey through several distinct ecological zones, from saguaros at the base to pine forests at the summit.
Accessibility is a key feature of this campground. The site has been designed to be inclusive, with a wheelchair accessible entrance and a wheelchair accessible parking lot. This commitment to accessibility ensures that people of all abilities can enjoy the beauty and tranquility of the mountain environment. The on-site parking is a significant convenience for a group site, as it provides a dedicated area for vehicles and helps to keep the main camping area clear and organized. The road leading to the site is generally well-maintained, accommodating a variety of vehicles.
The location on Mount Lemmon makes it an ideal spot for an easy escape from the Tucson metro area. It's close enough for a day trip or a weekend getaway, eliminating the need for extensive travel planning. ★ 5★ 4★ 3★ 2★ 1Beautiful site for group camping. Very well maintained. Roger is a great host.
July 01 · Drew BThe campground is great. The camp host, not so much. Roger is his name and he loves to pretend to be an actual forest service employee. Even down to the shirt he wears. Roger claimed we had too many cars parked at the campsite but was more than happy to overlook the infraction for $120, which he pocketed. The reality, he is hired and managed by a third party. He is misogynistic and a control freak. He spoke very condescendingly to most of the women and children in our group.
May 05 · John BJust returned from an amazing weekend in Mt Lemmon at Showers Point Group Site.Top 3 reasons you should stay here#1 - fantastic, amazing camp hosts - so kind and great info on how to keep the bears away#2 - cleanest vault toilets I have ever seen. Not once did I see toilet paper or anything else on the floors or toilet seats.#3 - well cared for campground. Again - clean. No litter and even the sticks and forest debris were tidy. Camp ring was cleaned out before we arrived. The Ramada fireplace was clean. the grills were clean. No spider webs, no forest mess - nothing. Just clean. It’s very obvious that this campground is well lived and tended too. Which means that the campers are well tended to as well. Thank you for keeping this little forest oasis beautiful.See you again soon!Cathy
July 17 · Cathy ParkerThis was a great experience, pine trees, cool nights, warm days, and fresh mountain air. plenty of space for our group. Toilets were clean and stocked even with all the kids in our group. The attendant was very friendly and brought some of our groups equipment down to their campsite. Would love to go back every year if I could.
July 15 · Michael KVery clean and quiet sites. Hosts are always friendly and offer firewood for purchase. If you're bringing lots of camping gear I would suggest bringing a cart. All sites have fireplace and running water. Bathrooms are located between the 3 sites.
