Shawnee Creek Horse Camp focuses on providing essential services and amenities that cater specifically to horse campers and RVers, ensuring a comfortable and functional stay while maintaining a rustic, natural feel.
- Electric and Water Hookups: All 28 campsites offer 30-amp electric and water hookups, providing necessary conveniences for RVs and horse trailers with living quarters.
- Covered Horse Stalls: Each campsite includes covered stalls made of "covered wire," which are described as "very safe" for your trail companions. These stalls are designed to protect horses from the elements. Fifty covered stalls are accessible to trails, floating, etc.
- Complimentary Local Campfire Wood: To reduce the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer infestation, local campfire wood is provided, making it convenient for campers to enjoy a campfire without bringing their own wood.
- River/Creek Access: The campground is located directly on Big Shawnee Creek, with some sites specifically designated as "Creekside" locations. The creek is shallow and good for sitting in chairs on hot days, and horses can cross it for drinks while riding.
- No Dump Station On-Site: It's important to note that Shawnee Creek Horse Camp does not have an on-site dump station. However, as noted by a reviewer, state campgrounds nearby do offer dump stations, making it "no hassle at all" to manage waste. Onsite holding tank pumping is also available from local vendors.
- No Shower or Restroom Facilities: As a "no frills" rustic horse camp, there are no traditional shower or restroom facilities (e.g., flush toilets or shower houses) provided. Campers should be self-contained or prepared to utilize alternative arrangements.
- Pet-Friendly: Well-behaved dogs with responsible owners are welcome, allowing guests to bring their canine companions along for the camping adventure.
- Multiple Site Types: The park is separated by Shawnee Creek, offering "Creekside" locations directly off County Road 211 and "Hillside" locations that are elevated and require crossing the creek, some offering an "elevated view of the creek."
Beyond its core services, Shawnee Creek Horse Camp offers several unique features and highlights that truly distinguish it as a premier destination for a specific type of outdoor enthusiast in the Missouri Ozarks.

Shawnee Creek Horse Camp Reviews
This is a small little campground. If you want quiet and privacy....this is the place to go. Covered stalls are made out of covered wire were very safe. Water and electric. There are more sites across the creek but our rig just seemed to big for the. Though owners say lots cross it. This is right down the street from where the wild horses are...we saw them three times! Will definitely go back!
Oct 28, 2020 · Tami VromaMy wife & I went camping there Easter week. We had a great time. Its laid back & the people are very friendly and the price is great. There isnt a dump station but either way you get there, there are state camp ground dump stations so that was no hastle at all. Your close to a gravel road but still secluded somewhat. It was very convenient for a 30 foot motor home & You are definitely right on the river!!! Great owners, great scenery & a great relaxing time, couldnt ask for much more. It might be a bit dusty in dry weather but wasnt an issue for us. I'm sure we will go back someday
