This campground offers a unique opportunity to experience the best of the Oregon Coast, blending the peaceful escape of nature with the unmatched convenience of being steps away from shops, restaurants, and the magnificent beach.
Sea Ranch RV Park has a history as a beloved retreat for many years, with some visitors returning annually, considering it their "go-to" spot. While recent transitions and some facility challenges have been noted by guests, the fundamental appeal of its incredible location and natural surroundings remains a strong draw. This guide aims to provide a comprehensive overview for local Oregonians considering The Retreat at Cannon Beach for their next coastal adventure.
Location and Accessibility
Sea Ranch RV Park, officially known as The Retreat at Cannon Beach, is located at 415 Fir St, Cannon Beach, OR 97110, USA. Its prime location is arguably its most significant asset. It sits just two blocks from the heart of downtown Cannon Beach, meaning guests can easily walk to local cafes, art galleries, unique retail stores, and a variety of world-class and casual dining options. More importantly, it's also only two blocks from the stunning Cannon Beach itself, offering effortless access to the sand, surf, and the majestic Haystack Rock.
This incredible walkability is a huge advantage for visitors, as it allows for a true car-free experience once you've arrived. The convenience of being able to stroll to a "caffeine fix" in the morning or enjoy an evening meal without worrying about parking is a major plus for many. The campground is easily accessible by paved roads, making it a straightforward drive for both RVs and cars. While the park is nestled within a charming, quiet setting, its proximity to Highway 101 means it's well-connected for those traveling along the Oregon Coast.
Services Offered
The Retreat at Cannon Beach offers a variety of accommodation types to suit different preferences, with a mix of services designed to make your stay comfortable, although some aspects have received mixed reviews from recent visitors.
- RV Sites: Spacious RV sites are available, many with full hookups (water, electricity, and sewer). Some sites offer 30 and 50 amp service. The ability to accommodate RVs from 12' to 40' is advertised, though some larger rigs might find maneuvering tight in certain older sections of the park due to tree growth.
- Tent Camping: Natural grassy tent sites are nestled among trees, providing a more traditional camping experience. Each tent site includes a picnic table and a fire ring.
- Cabin Rentals: Various cabin sizes are available, some equipped with essential amenities like kitchens and private bathrooms. Some cabins are pet-friendly for an additional fee.
- Picnic tables and Fire rings: Each campsite, whether RV or tent, comes with a picnic table and a fire ring for outdoor cooking and enjoyment (subject to local fire restrictions).
- Restrooms and Showers: The campground provides restroom facilities with showers. However, recent reviews indicate inconsistencies in cleanliness, design, and availability (e.g., men’s bathroom closures for renovation without clear alternatives). Some guests describe the facilities as older or needing significant upgrades. Hot showers are typically available, which is a major plus after a day on the beach.
- Laundry Facilities: Public laundry facilities are available for guest use.
- Wi-Fi Access: Complimentary Wi-Fi is generally available, though its reliability and signal strength can vary depending on the site.
- Pet-Friendly: The campground is generally pet-friendly, though specific rules and fees may apply, especially for cabins. Be aware that many rabbits roam the park, which can be exciting for pets.
- Firewood for sale: Available on-site for convenience.
Features / Highlights
- Unbeatable Location: The absolute standout feature is the campground's proximity to downtown Cannon Beach and the beach itself. This convenience allows guests to easily access shops, restaurants, art galleries, and the iconic Haystack Rock without needing to drive.
- Coastal Charm and Natural Surroundings: Despite being near town, the park retains a quiet, charming, and rustic atmosphere with towering trees and views of Ecola Creek. Wildlife, particularly rabbits and occasionally elk, can often be spotted on the property, adding to the natural appeal.
- Variety of Accommodations: Offering RV, tent, and cabin options provides flexibility for different traveler preferences and budgets.
- Historical Value for Loyal Guests: Many long-time visitors have expressed deep affection for Sea Ranch, having made it their annual "go-to retreat" for years, appreciating its cozy atmosphere and the welcoming staff from previous management.
- Access to Iconic Attractions: Beyond Haystack Rock, guests are within easy reach of Ecola State Park (offering hiking trails and scenic vistas), Hug Point (known for its sea caves and waterfalls), and various other coastal attractions and viewpoints.
- Opportunity for Renovation and Improvement: While some facilities currently present challenges (e.g., bathroom design, site consistency), the prime location and natural setting mean the campground has "big potential" for future enhancements under new ownership. This presents an opportunity for a truly top-tier coastal camping experience.

Sea Ranch RV Park Reviews
We discovered Sea Ranch by accident years ago—and what a wonderful surprise it turned out to be. Since then, it’s become our go-to retreat, and we’ve returned year after year. Tucked away in a quiet, charming setting, yet just blocks from the heart of downtown Cannon Beach, it offers the perfect balance of peace and convenience. This year will be our last visit as we enter retirement, and it’s bittersweet to say goodbye. We’ve loved everything about this place—the cozy atmosphere, the beautiful surroundings, and most of all, the warm and welcoming people who run it. Sea Ranch will always hold a special place in our hearts
Jun 29, 2025 · William KelleyWe had a mixed experience at The Retreat Campsite. Great location, but poor facilities. The Retreat Campsite is located in a very convenient location , within a walking distance to caffeine fixes and local restaurants, which is a huge plus. However, beyond location, the experience was a real mixed bag.The site layout is chaotic: some campsites are beautifully secluded and private, while others are practically on the road and totally exposed. There’s no consistency, and it feels like the campground just grew randomly rather than being planned. The bathrooms are a major letdown. There are constant lineups, and the design is incredibly frustrating. No hooks for towels, no shelves for toiletries, and absolutely nowhere to place your vanity bag. Worse still, if you're taller than 5'3", prepare to bang your head every time you enter. The building looks like it used to be a goat barn (too low even for horses). It would be fantastic if the new owners seriously considered demolishing this Frankenstein of a bathroom and included a properly designed washroom facility in their 5-year development plan.During our stay, the men’s bathroom was closed for renovations, but there was zero communication about where guests were supposed to go instead. No signs, no temporary outhouse, nothing. Just poor communication all around.Another issue: although public cannabis consumption is illegal in Oregon, this campground does nothing to discourage it ? (no signage, no enforcement, nothing). It really detracts from the family-friendly atmosphere they seem to be going for.Overall, this campground has big potential due to its prime location and natural surroundings. But as it stands, it’s a dog’s breakfast....a patchwork of awkward planning and ignored guest comfort. A little more care and investment could really turn it around.
Jul 02, 2025 · Ksenia ObolenskayaRented a tent spot for a night, each campsite has a picnic table and fire pit. Pet friendly. Nice area and close to town, shops, and beach access. They have community shower and bathroom stalls. Tent spot was small and they do cram the spots close to others. Limited parking at the campsite, especially if you have a pickup truck.
Jul 04, 2025 · Stormy CurryI’m not sure what all the negative reviews are about. Check-in was quick and easy, the site has full hookups, the area is quiet, and it’s very dog-friendly. I imagine some of the lower ratings might come from tent campers or hikers who rely more on the bathroom and shower facilities, which I didn’t use since I was staying in an RV. From an RV traveler’s perspective, this place is great—peaceful, well-equipped, and less than a 10-minute walk to downtown. I’d definitely stay here again.
May 30, 2025 · Kaylee AndersonMost disgusting bathrooms ever, avoid at all costs! We paid around 70$ for one night without hookup just to be able to take a shower but it was just to filthy: dirt, mold, not cleaned in probably months and just full on disgusting!
