Beware – This Campsite Does Not Honor Price Agreements After DepositI normally don’t leave reviews, but I feel compelled to share my experience to help future campers avoid the same issue. After securing a reservation at this campsite and paying a deposit based on an agreed-upon rate, I was later informed that the price had changed—and not in my favor. Despite having a confirmation and proof of the original rate, the management refused to honor the agreement, insisting on a higher fee upon arrival or threatening to cancel the reservation. At one point during negotiations the manager, Alex, offered another site at a discounted rate then went back on their word and avoided all my calls. Several employees agreed I was in the right but that the manager refuses to honor my contract. I was told they can change the price at any time, based on the market, which is why it is called an estimate. Charging $85 more a night is not an estimate it’s not even In the ball park. Even with a contract they told me if I didn’t like it I could waste my time and take them to court. I’ll do them one better, I’ll share this story. This behavior is not only unprofessional, it's unethical. When a business accepts a deposit, they are entering into a contract. To go back on that without proper justification undermines trust and shows a lack of respect for patrons.Campsites should be a place of transparency and integrity—especially when travelers make plans, arrange transportation, and often come with families or groups relying on those plans. Unfortunately, this location failed on that front. We’ve been to this campsite before when it was a KOA. We had enjoyed it so much we decided to return only to find they are no longer a KOA. Maybe this explains the lack of customer service and regards for customer satisfaction.I strongly urge potential guests to get everything in writing and be cautious when booking. Better yet, choose a campsite that values honesty and respects its customers enough to honor its agreements. Your peace of mind, time, and money deserve better. - k Land

The resort's position just a short distance from Highway 1 makes it easily reachable by car, providing a straightforward drive for most Californians. Its coastal setting means that while it feels like a genuine escape, it remains accessible to urban amenities within a reasonable driving distance. A significant highlight of its location is the approximately five-minute walk from the resort to Highway 1, and then a short jaunt to the renowned Año Nuevo State Park. Services Offered

Costanoa aims to provide a comprehensive range of services and facilities to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable stay, accommodating various camping styles. Based on recent guest experiences, here's an overview of what you can expect:

  • Diverse Accommodation Options: Costanoa offers an impressive variety of lodging, including RV sites, traditional tent camping spots, comfortable solo/duo/family tents (some with amenities like electricity, lighting, and heated blankets), and even more hotel-like lodge room options. This caters to different comfort levels and preferences.
  • Clean Bathrooms and Showers: The resort is noted for its clean on-site bathrooms. The showers are particularly highlighted as being well-maintained and providing amenities such as soap, shampoo, conditioner, and even towels. Guests are advised to bring flip-flops for convenience.
  • Community Bonfire Areas: For guests whose individual sites may not have fire pits, conveniently placed community bonfire areas are available, allowing everyone to enjoy the warmth and ambiance of a campfire (subject to fire restrictions, which are crucial in California's dry climate).
  • On-Site Dining Options: Costanoa features on-site restaurants, including a pizza place that also has a decent bar. While the food might be considered pricey for some, it offers a convenient dining alternative, though bringing your own food for cooking is also highly recommended for a traditional camping experience.
  • Staff Assistance: The staff are generally friendly and helpful, with specific positive mentions of individuals facilitating reservation changes and ensuring customer satisfaction.

It's important for potential visitors to be aware that while the resort aims for excellent service, a past issue with a price agreement not being honored has been reported. Therefore, it's highly recommended to get all pricing details and agreements in writing to ensure transparency and avoid potential discrepancies upon arrival. This precaution can help ensure a smooth and worry-free check-in experience.
