As an RV campsite, it's "ok". For the money, you could definitely do better. Many much nicer places charge similar rates. While visiting my mother on short notice, I thought $900 was a relatively good deal for a month... until I was later told electricity isn't included and I have no sewer connections. You also still have to pay for virtually any services you "need". They've got useless free stuff, though. Pool, music, basketball court... so if you like a lot of superfluous public activities, then maybe you'll love it here. Personally, after having been shown my space (or should I say, my mud pit.), honestly I wanted my money back... but I had no other options.I was particularly amused by how concerned the staff member was that I park my trailer over the meager patch of gravel. It was essentially a mud pit with some gravel sprinkled on top.I have no sewer connections, but I'm also expected to walk 5 minutes to use the bathroom or take a shower. (or take an hour moving my trailer to their dump site...) I'm a 10 minute walk from the laundry facilities and I have to drive to the dumpster. All of the amenities are "adequate", but I really feel like RV parks do overcharge to park on what is often barely more than undeveloped land. They provide all of these superfluous services, but can't be bothered to give you a clean surface to park on. They're always trying to create an "experience" to justify costs as they quietly excuse themselves from providing meaningful value in the things people "need".it's not something unique to this campground and they're not doing anything particularly wrong, but it's just depressing to pay so much to stay in my own trailer. This is why my rig is off-grid and I typically stay out in the wilderness, far from these places.ultimately, S&H campground is fairly average. nothing special in terms of a place to live. - James Altes

S&H Campground offers a wide array of services and amenities designed to cater to various camping preferences and ensure a fun-filled experience for families. While some services might come with an additional fee, the overall range of offerings is quite extensive:

  • Diverse Camping Site Options: They provide a variety of sites to accommodate all camping styles. These include primitive tent sites, electric and water hookup sites, and full hookup sites for RVs, some with 30- and 50-amp service. They also have pull-through sites for larger rigs.
  • Cabin and RV Rentals: For those without their own equipment or seeking a "less rustic" experience, S&H Campground offers cabins and RV rentals. Cabins are typically "dry cabins" without internal restrooms but include a couch, chair, mini-fridge, microwave, and flat-screen TV.
  • Family Fun Park: A major highlight, the 12-acre Family Fun Park (often requiring an additional fee) features a wide range of kid-friendly entertainment, including inflatable playgrounds, a giant slide, miniature golf, water tag, a rock climbing wall, trackless train, and bungee trampolines.
  • Swimming Pool: A well-maintained swimming pool is available, typically open from Memorial Day through Labor Day, with extended heated/lighted hours into October during the fall season.
  • On-Site Dining and Market: The campground boasts a "Market Place" and a café/concessions area (sometimes called Grounds & Mounds) that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, including items like waffles, hot cocoa, sandwiches, pizza, and hand-dipped ice cream with fresh waffle cones. A camp store also sells essentials like milk, bread, ice, candy, propane, and firewood.
  • Recreational Activities: Beyond the Family Fun Park, the campground offers a variety of activities such as live music, outdoor movies, magic shows, cornhole tournaments, horseshoe pits, sand volleyball, basketball, disc golf, gaga ball, and fishing in a stocked lake.
  • Planned Weekend Events: From April through October, weekends are bustling with a scheduled array of activities including themed weekends (like Christmas in July or Halloween in October with trick-or-treating), kids' crafts, face painting, temporary tattoos, cooking classes, fitness classes, and do-it-yourself crafts.
  • Laundry and Bath Facilities: Three modern bath facilities with showers and laundry facilities are available for guest use.
  • RV Services: They offer mobile RV service and repairs throughout central Indiana, and a sanitary dump station is available.
  • Group and Rally Facilities: S&H can accommodate groups and rallies, providing space and amenities for larger gatherings.

S&H Campground offers a diverse range of features that set it apart, particularly for families and those seeking an active camping experience, although some points have garnered mixed reviews:

  • Abundant Kid-Friendly Activities: This is arguably the biggest draw. With a 12-acre Family Fun Park, multiple playgrounds, a swimming pool, and a packed schedule of weekend activities (from themed events and crafts to inflatables and mini-golf), kids are guaranteed to have a blast. One family traveled 5 hours specifically for the kids' activities and reported their children "had a blast!"
  • Lively Atmosphere and Live Entertainment: S&H cultivates a vibrant, engaging atmosphere, especially on weekends and during special events. The presence of live music, DJs, outdoor movies, and even magic shows creates a festive environment that many campers enjoy.
  • Year-Round Operation with Peak Season Activities: While open year-round, the campground truly "shines from April through October," with a full schedule of activities every weekend during this period, offering consistent entertainment for repeat visitors.
  • Variety of Accommodation Types: The ability to choose from primitive tent sites, various RV hookups, or even cabin and RV rentals makes it accessible to a wide range of campers with different comfort levels and equipment.
  • On-Site Convenience: The presence of a market, café/concessions, and ice cream shop means campers have easy access to food, drinks, and essential supplies without leaving the campground. This adds a layer of convenience, particularly for families.
  • Responsive Staff (Mixed Reviews): While some reviews mention "nice and friendly" staff and "very kind, friendly, and help with any question," others suggest inconsistencies. However, positive interactions with staff who strive to ensure a smooth stay are a clear highlight for many.
  • Natural Surroundings with Water Features: Despite being close to urban areas, the campground is surrounded by mature trees and features Sugar Creek and a 3-acre fishing lake, offering opportunities for connection with nature and activities like fishing.
