Rocky Point Campground is beautifully situated in **Westwood, CA 96137, USA**. This prime location places it directly on the shores of a stunning lake, making it a highly sought-after destination for water enthusiasts and nature lovers alike. Westwood itself is part of Lassen County, an area renowned for its natural beauty, including national forests, lakes, and volcanic landscapes. The campground's address ensures it's easily identifiable for those navigating to this picturesque part of Northern California.
The accessibility of Rocky Point Campground is generally excellent, allowing various types of vehicles, including RVs, to reach the sites. However, it's important for visitors with larger rigs to note a specific point about the internal layout of the campground. According to reviews, while the sites themselves are fantastic, "the paths around the grounds are tight, and the trees are not cut back high/far enough." This can lead to "pinstriping, scrapes, and dings" on taller or longer vehicles. This isn't necessarily a "them problem" but rather a characteristic of the natural, wooded environment. Therefore, RVers with larger rigs should exercise extra caution and awareness when maneuvering through the loops within the campground.
Despite this minor navigational nuance for larger vehicles, the overall accessibility to the campground and its beautiful lakeside setting remains a significant advantage. Its location offers immediate access to the lake, which is a major draw for activities such as boating, fishing, and swimming. The surrounding natural landscape provides opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and simply enjoying the tranquility of the forest. Given its popularity and prime lakeside spots, particularly during peak seasons, it is highly recommended to "reserve early" if you are looking for a spot, as the best sites tend to fill up quickly. This combination of stunning location and general ease of access makes Rocky Point Campground a top choice for Californians seeking a genuine outdoor experience.

Rocky Point Campground Reviews
Beautiful lake front campground but you better reserve early if you are looking for a spot.
May 29, 2025 · Ty WhiteThis campground is probably one of my favorites. There really isn't a bad spot, in my opinion, and we've stayed in quite a few. The camp hosts are all so amazing, friendly, and helpful. My only complaint, albeit a personal problem, is that the paths around the grounds are tight, and the trees are not cut back high/far enough. Our rig(s) have gotten some good pinstriping, scrapes, and dings driving through some of the loops. Again, one of the downsides to having a little taller/longer rig, not necessarily a "them problem." All in all, I would highly recommend the campground.
Jul 17, 2024 · Joel PotterAbsolutely beautiful campground. This is a fast-paced 131 site Campground. 12 comfort stations. 31 first come first serve sites. Many sites right on the water line. Sites include table fire ring bear box. No hookups. Dump station on site. This is an absolute hidden gin.
Apr 19, 2025 · Denny RadfordThe view is beautiful but the campsite hosts and the people around are very picky. You can't even be having conversation whispering without getting a noise complaint. What I also don't understand is we went to bed once already but we woke back up because the neighbor campsite was having a medical emergency. Which is absolutely fine but then in the morning we get a noise complaint when we were just whispering with an ambulance right next to us. Camping supposed to be roasting marshmallows and singing songs around a campfire and that's what this place used to be but in the last 2 years it changed. As well as on my reservation I paid for three cars. I got in but the lady at the front charged the two other cars fees to come in when on my reservation I paid for them. With everything that happened I will say we will never be coming back
Jun 19, 2025 · Britt BarkeI want to start out by saying the views and beach of this campground are AMAZING. We have been coming here for years, almost 20 years to be exact. The lady at the front kiosk was still as pleasant as ever. Unfortunately as of this year the “managers” have become very strict about ridiculous things which makes it extremely unenjoyable/stressful and makes it where we do not want to come back again which is very unfortunate. The night we arrived we had several sites booked by various friends/family, a manager came around and told each one that they had to back in. They told us we were good at our pull through site. 2 days later after unpacking and setting up our site a new manager (Chuck) came through and told us we would have to move our trailer as it was back in. We did back in and there is nothing specific on which side you have to back in at our pull through site. He said you agreed to this policy when making reservations which was false, no where on their online policy does it say anything about backing in. Also I have been staying at this specific site for 20+ years and it has never once been an issue. The reason this is even a big deal for me is if our trailer has to be turned around the way they want we are not facing our campsite and we are facing the road. With small children they are still learning about road safety. We do our very best to have eyes on them at all time and teach them safety but having our door facing the road is not ideal. Upon the “Supervisor” Kevin’s arrival he told us we had to move no negotiations, my husband said well can I point some things out and he cut him off and said no non negotiable. He then made a comment about how we would even fit both our vehicles. He was extremely rude and couldn’t even be an adult and hear us out. He also told my husband this was not a pull through site when we brought that to his attention. If you look where the site number is posted you will see where we had backed in at and had to move which is the front of the site as their site post and tag placement is at that side of the pull through. They then called the Sheriff Department to come through and talk to us just because we were questioning their logic and policy as it is not stated online or around their campground and even the Sheriff Department was confused about what we were doing wrong. Be AWARE, these hosts are very picky about every little thing, try to make things up last minute and you will not have your freedom and be harassed in multiple ways while camping. Every other person I talked to outside our party agreed with how rude and unprofessional they were. Just seems like a big power trip to me.
