This dedication to a personal touch, combined with well-maintained grounds and a strategic location, makes it a highly recommended choice for Montana residents seeking an authentic and enjoyable outdoor experience.
Rocky Mountain Hi Campground is conveniently located at 825 Helena Flats Rd, Kalispell, MT 59901, USA. This central location in the marvelous Flathead Valley makes it an excellent hub for exploring the diverse attractions of Northwest Montana. It strikes a perfect balance between being close enough to amenities and far enough to offer a peaceful night's sleep.
For Montanans eager to explore, the campground's proximity to key destinations is a major advantage:
Glacier National Park: Often referred to as "The Crown of the Continent," Glacier National Park is just a short drive away – approximately 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the park entrance you aim for. This makes it incredibly convenient for day trips to hike its stunning trails, drive the Going-to-the-Sun Road, or witness its breathtaking vistas.
Flathead Lake: The largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi, Flathead Lake, is about 20 minutes from the campground. It offers abundant opportunities for boating, fishing, paddleboarding, and swimming.
Kalispell: Downtown Kalispell, with its local shops, restaurants, breweries, and cultural attractions, is just minutes away. This provides easy access to supplies, dining, and entertainment without venturing too far.
Whitefish: The charming resort town of Whitefish, known for Whitefish Mountain Resort (skiing in winter, hiking/biking in summer), is also within a short drive, offering even more dining, shopping, and recreational options.
Polson: Approximately 30 minutes away, Polson is another delightful town on Flathead Lake's southern end, worth a visit for its lakefront charm.
RV Sites: The campground offers over 95 RV sites, accommodating trailers, 5th wheels, and large rigs. Many sites provide full hookups (water, electric, sewer) with 30 or 50-amp service. Sites are often level gravel pads with picnic tables and some include fire pits. Many are nicely spaced with trees in between for added privacy and shade.
Tent Sites: There are 13 dedicated tent sites available, some with water and electric hookups, and all with a picnic table and fire ring. While some are noted as being small and bunched together, others are well-situated within the wooded areas.
Cabin Rentals: For those who prefer a more solid roof over their head, Rocky Mountain Hi Campground offers various rental cabins. These range from "sleeping cabins" (basic service with a queen bed, loft, microwave, mini-fridge; bring your own bedding/towels) to "full-service cabins" (like the Glacier Cabin with a full kitchen, bathroom, and linens provided). Specific cabins like Sperry and Granite Park have a strict no-pet policy for allergy-free experiences.
Clean Showers and Restrooms: The bathhouses are consistently praised by visitors for being very clean and well-maintained, offering hot showers – a welcome amenity after a day of adventuring.
Laundry Facilities: A large and spotless laundry room is available on-site, providing a convenient service for longer stays. Prices are reasonable, typically $1.50 for a washer and $0.50 for 8 minutes on the dryer.
Camp Store: A small store is available for basic essentials, groceries, propane, and firewood. It's noted that the wood can sometimes be wet, so preparedness for starting fires is a good idea.
Wi-Fi and Cable TV: Wireless internet access is available at all sites and cabins, often better than at many other campgrounds. Cable TV is also provided at full hookup RV sites.
Pet-Friendly: The campground is pet-friendly, offering a large fenced dog park, which is a great asset for those traveling with their canine companions.
Swimming Hole: A spring-fed creek runs along the front of the campground, featuring a crystal-clear swimming hole, a refreshing spot to cool off during warm summer days.
Playground: A large, grassy playground with a Western-themed mini-house replica is available for kids, making it a very family-friendly destination.
Recreational Areas: Additional amenities include volleyball courts, basketball hoops, and a beautiful pavilion.
Family-Friendly Atmosphere: Rocky Mountain Hi Campground is highly regarded as a family-friendly environment, with a large playground and ample space for kids to play, including bike riding around the park.
Quiet and Well-Maintained: Despite its central location and variety of site types, the campground maintains a remarkably quiet atmosphere. Guests frequently comment on how well-cared-for the grounds are.
Strategic Location for Exploration: Its prime position near Kalispell, Glacier National Park, and Flathead Lake makes it an ideal base for experiencing the best of Northwest Montana's outdoor activities and cultural attractions.
Variety of Accommodations: The ability to choose between RV sites (full hookups, spacious), tent sites, and various cabins (basic to full-service) caters to a wide range of camping preferences and budgets.
Excellent Facilities: The consistently clean bathhouses, showers, and spotless laundry facilities are a significant highlight, adding comfort and convenience to the camping experience.
Pet-Friendly Amenities: The large dog park is a major plus for pet owners, providing a safe and spacious area for pets to enjoy.
Unique July 4th Celebration: A notable and fun feature is the allowance for guests to celebrate the 4th of July with their own fireworks, creating a festive and memorable experience (always with safety in mind).
Friendly Staff: Numerous reviews praise the staff for being friendly, helpful, and welcoming, contributing to a positive overall experience.

We appreciate a campground that feels genuine, family-run, and offers a quiet retreat amidst the hustle and bustle of tourist seasons. The "super quiet" nights, even with a friendly rooster around, speak to the peaceful ambiance that allows for true relaxation after a day of exploring.
Its strategic location near Kalispell, and particularly its close proximity to Glacier National Park and Flathead Lake, makes it an unbeatable basecamp. For us, Glacier isn't just a postcard; it's our backyard, and having a comfortable place just 30-45 minutes away to return to after a long day of hiking Going-to-the-Sun Road is invaluable. Similarly, access to Flathead Lake for fishing, boating, or simply enjoying the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi is a significant draw.

Add to that the family-friendly atmosphere, complete with a playground and swimming hole, and a large dog park for our furry companions, and you have a campground that truly understands and delivers on the needs of Montana residents looking to make the most of our incredible state.

Rocky Mountain Hi Campground Reviews
A great little campground that accommodates trailers, 5th wheels, tents, and offers rental cabins. Guests are allowed to celebrate the 4th of July with their own fireworks! There are showers, laundry and a small store. Very family friendly and reasonably priced!
Jul 06, 2025 · Norm KCame down for the first time from Alberta. Place is really green and well taken care of. Staff is friendly. Super quiet aside from a rooster that loves to make noise basically 24/7 (that isn't true entirely, we were only here for two nights and we spent most of our time away from the campground but that's neither here nor there) anyway, lots to do in the area, Glacier National Park is not too far away. Kalispell is nice. Polson is also nice (30ish mins away). Highly recommend especially to Canadians.
Jun 14, 2025 · Cameron CA very pretty, well planned park. Wide spaces, easy for big rigs. lots of privacy. Jun 19, 2025 · Susan ThiviergeThis campground was definitely a favorite of ours and where we will return any time we come this way. We wanted a prolonged stay to visit Glacier many times and they were very helpful. The owners are great people. Very nice, helpful, friendly. They do a great job running this family owned business. It's not near a highway or interstate, which seems to be the norm these days, so it was very quiet. Very clean, well kept. Just from our observation, they appear to put families in one area of the campground, near the playground and creek/swimming hole, and people without kids, in the other area. That's pretty nice. When we walk we can see the kiddos playing and enjoying their stay, but they are on the other side of the campground, so the peace and quiet is maintained for us cranky older people. Haha. :) We tow a 24' enclosed car trailer, and they allowed us to place it in their storage lot in back for no charge. Hook ups were all good. Nice office and store with basic food and supplies there. Laundry, bath/showers, which we didn't use but looked really nice. We actually stayed Aug 11 - Sept 28. I feel like the price here was fair given the proximity to Glacier and made this stay affordable and allowed us to drive our car all over easily to see things.
Sep 24, 2024 · Troy RaderGreat campground, close to everything. We had a spacious spot (and we are 46.10!), leveled. Beautiful mountain views. Staff was very friendly. We were allowed to receive packages. Laundry was convenient even though a lot of machines were out of order. We liked the area so much, we are going back for 2 weeks at the end of the month. Lots of hiking and lakes. National Park was still on timed entry so hopefully we will be able to go this time around.
