Riverside Campground Introduce
For Nebraska residents seeking a back-to-basics camping experience amidst scenic natural surroundings, Riverside Campground, located within the expansive Two Rivers State Recreation Area in Waterloo, NE, presents a compelling option. This particular campground is designed for those who appreciate primitive camping, focusing on the simple joys of outdoor living rather than extensive amenities. It’s a place where the sounds of nature often take precedence, offering a refreshing contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life. While some visitors have noted areas for improvement, particularly regarding site conditions and reservation processes, the essence of Riverside Campground lies in its ability to provide an accessible and affordable gateway to the natural beauty that Nebraska has to offer. It's important for potential campers to understand the nature of Riverside Campground – it caters to a more rustic experience. As one reviewer mentioned, while seeking "a nice quiet relaxing weekend," the reality of a busy, popular campground within a state recreation area can sometimes mean more activity than anticipated, especially if large groups are present. The feedback about site conditions and the challenges with online reservation fees are valuable for setting expectations. However, the willingness of the park superintendent to address concerns, as seen in the follow-up comment about comping a future stay, suggests a commitment to guest satisfaction. This indicates that while the campground offers a straightforward experience, park management aims to ensure visitors have positive interactions, striving to make each trip a worthwhile escape into Nebraska's outdoors.

The online reservation fees are way too high! If you try to cancel they'll still take your money. I don't know where all this money is going but it seems like the park should be in better condition. The picnic tables are ready for the scrap pile I think.
Sep 03, 2023 · G SRead the follow up comments below-- We had one car and one tent and we expected a nice quiet relaxing weekend, but not so. It seems this is a very overused campground. After we got settled setup, the campsite next to us filled up with at least four cars/trucks and probably 8 to 12 tents. Turned out to be very noisy, lots of people, commotion, headlights at night and people running around. I mentioned it to one of the park employees and he was very rude to us and offered no solution even though these people were very clearly breaking the park rules by having so many tents and vehicles on one site. He said they are a group who reserved in advance so apparently the park rules don't apply.UPDATE: I spoke to the park superintendent about the problems, and after a bit of discussion he agreed to comp our next stay. We will try it again and see if it's any better.
