River Park Campground is ideally situated at 1400 5th Ave, Menominee, MI 49858, USA. This location places it directly in Menominee, a charming city nestled on the western shore of Lake Michigan, right at the mouth of the Menominee River, which forms part of the border with Wisconsin. For Michiganders, particularly those from the southern U.P. or even those traveling from the Lower Peninsula, its accessibility is a significant advantage.
The campground’s address on 5th Avenue means it is easily reachable within the city of Menominee, providing convenient access to local amenities while still offering a sense of proximity to nature. Menominee itself is a city with historical charm and offers access to various shops, restaurants, and local attractions, making it easy to resupply or enjoy a meal out. For those arriving by RV or trailer, the city location generally implies well-maintained roads leading directly to the park. While it's located in the Upper Peninsula, its position in the southernmost part makes it a less arduous drive for many coming from other parts of Michigan compared to campgrounds further north. This balance of being close to urban conveniences yet situated by the river makes River Park Campground a practical and appealing choice for local users seeking a straightforward and accessible camping experience.
River Park Campground offers essential services to ensure a comfortable stay, focusing on the core needs of campers, particularly those with RVs. Based on available information and customer reviews, here's what you can expect:
- Full Hookup Sites: The campground provides sites with full hookups, which typically include water, electric (presumably 30/50 amp service), and sewer connections. This is a significant convenience for RV campers, as noted by the "$40 full hook up" price point mentioned in a review.
- Well-Kept Park: The grounds are described as a "well kept park," indicating a commitment to cleanliness and maintenance of the general camping area.
- Restroom and Shower House: A shower house is available for campers' use. However, it's important to note the specific operating hours, as one review mentions it "lock down at 8 pm," which may require campers to plan their shower times accordingly.
- Direct Check-in and Payment: The campground operates on a system where visitors can call ahead for a pencil-in reservation and "pay when arrive," often with an email confirmation. Payment methods are specific: "cash or check only," which is crucial information for prospective campers.
- Friendly People: Guests have described the overall atmosphere as having "nice people," suggesting a welcoming environment.
- Pet Policy: While "make sure you clean up after your pet!" is a direct instruction from a review, it implies that pets are generally welcome, provided owners are responsible.
River Park Campground, while not featuring an extensive list of resort-style amenities, boasts several key highlights that make it an attractive option for certain campers, particularly those prioritizing value and location.
- Affordable Full Hookup Sites: At approximately "$40 for full hook up," the campground offers a very competitive price for RV sites with complete services. This makes it an economical choice for those looking for an extended stay or a budget-friendly option.
- Well-Maintained Grounds: Consistently described as a "well kept park," the cleanliness and upkeep of the general camping area contribute significantly to a pleasant stay. This attention to maintenance helps create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere.
- Nice Area and River Proximity: The campground is situated in a "nice area" right by the Menominee River. This offers potential for riverside views, peaceful walks, and possibly fishing or other water-related activities directly from or near the campground. The natural setting by the river adds significantly to its appeal.
- Flexible Reservation System: The ability to "pencil me in and pay when arrive" with an email confirmation offers a degree of flexibility for campers who may prefer not to deal with complex online booking portals, catering to a traditional approach to reservations.
- Friendly Atmosphere: The presence of "nice people" in the park contributes to a welcoming and community-oriented vibe, which can enhance the overall camping experience for those who enjoy friendly interactions with fellow campers.
- Proximity to Menominee City Amenities: Being located directly in Menominee provides easy access to the city's resources, including grocery stores, restaurants, and other services, which is a convenience for campers needing to resupply or wishing to explore local attractions.
- Suitability for Various Rig Sizes: While not explicitly stated, generally, full hookup RV parks in urban-adjacent areas are designed to accommodate a range of RV sizes, offering a practical solution for most travelers.

It is important to note, as highlighted in one review, that "if you call nobody answers the phone." Despite the provided phone numbers, direct communication might sometimes be a challenge. The feedback suggests that the preferred method for securing a site might involve calling to be "penciled in" and then arriving. Given that the campground operates on a "cash or check only" payment system and does not offer online reservations, prospective campers should be prepared for these traditional methods of interaction. For detailed inquiries or to confirm availability, persistence with phone calls is recommended, or planning to arrive during typical office hours.
For us Michiganders, particularly those exploring the rich offerings of the Upper Peninsula, River Park Campground in Menominee, MI, presents a practical and affordable option. Its key suitability for locals stems from several factors. Firstly, its budget-friendly full hookup sites make it an accessible choice for extended stays or those looking to save on accommodation while still enjoying the convenience of essential services. Despite some feedback about management's responsiveness to calls, the consistent praise for a "well kept park" and "nice people" suggests that the on-site experience is largely positive. For a straightforward, affordable, and well-maintained base for your U.P. adventures by the river, River Park Campground is a compelling choice for any Michigan resident.

River Park Campground Reviews
$40 full hook up, well kept park, nice area, nice people. I called and they pencil me in and pay when arrive, email confirmation. Now the negative, cash or check only, so many geese there is crap everywhere but make sure you clean up after your pet! shower house lock down at 8 pm. Don't listen to Slim, he's apparently made at the world
May 23, 2025 · Brian MetzlerNice park. No way to reserve anything online. You have to just show up there and if you call nobody answers the phone so these people have not joined the 21st century yet I'm not going there ever again.
May 12, 2025 · Chitiwn SlimThis is a campground that is very clean with excellent bathroom facilities. It is perfect for a stopover on the way to Munising. As expected in a city campground, there is some noise from trains and cars, but it's not a big deal. There is a good supermarket nearby called Jack’s Fresh where you can buy food.
Jun 27, 2024 · Mimi JiraThere was goose poop everywhere, It was unreal. It got on everything, tent, shoes, anything that touched the gound. That was not even the worst part. The blatent rudeness and cronyism was unreal. I camped there a few times when friend and kid were in town. She checked in while I was at work, and they charged us extra for me because I was not with her when she checked in. Horrible customer service. Different rules apply to different people. If they know you, the rules don't apply. If they don't know you, they make up rules. We had 3 people at our site, and my cousin who lives in Menominee couldn't visit without paying 5 dollars. Meanwhile, the people next to us with 8 people at their site invited us for a drink and informed us none of that applied to them. Just complete lack of professionalism.
Nov 01, 2024 · Jason LoeweckeMy fiancé (boyfriend at the time) was working up in Menominee on Lake Michigan so we stayed at this campground for the entire summer of 2021 and I cannot imagine a better experience. I can’t remember her name, but the manager was super accommodating and answered any questions we had. The people in the neighboring campsites were all super friendly and loved our dog Bandit. Tons of grocery and food places nearby, plus a laundromat right next to it which was particularly helpful for us since our camper did not have a washer and dryer! Also a few beaches near. In addition to the fun, I was also taking college courses this summer and they had WiFi so I had no issues staying on top of school. One of the best, most peaceful summers of my life
