The "COE" in River Junction (COE) Campground signifies its operation by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. This federal agency is responsible for managing many of the nation's waterways, dams, and the public lands surrounding them, often with a focus on flood control, conservation, and public recreation. This means that COE campgrounds are typically found in scenic waterfront locations, offering excellent opportunities for fishing, boating, and enjoying the natural surroundings. They are known for being well-maintained, clean, and often more affordable than privately run campgrounds, making them particularly appealing to Georgia residents looking for value and quality in their outdoor adventures.
