Ridge Rider Campground is conveniently situated at 31661 Green Forest Dr, Little Orleans, MD 21766, USA. This prime location places it in the heart of Maryland’s picturesque natural beauty, offering easy access to some of the region’s most popular outdoor attractions. For many Marylanders, its accessibility makes it an ideal spot for a weekend getaway or a longer vacation without the extensive travel time.
One of the most significant advantages of Ridge Rider Campground’s location is its proximity to the historic C&O Canal Towpath. This iconic trail, beloved by cyclists, hikers, and nature enthusiasts, runs right alongside the campground's vicinity, making it an excellent base for exploring its miles of scenic pathways. Many visitors, particularly those on multi-day biking trips, find Ridge Rider to be a perfect stopover point, offering essential amenities and a comfortable rest.
While the campground offers a feeling of serene seclusion, it’s important for visitors to be aware of the approach. As noted by previous guests, there is a significant and long hill to climb to reach the campground entrance from the C&O Canal Towpath. While this might be a challenge for some, especially cyclists at the end of a long day, the reward of comfortable facilities and stunning surroundings makes the effort worthwhile. Additionally, cell signal can be weak in the area, so it's advisable for visitors to print out directions or download maps before heading out to ensure a smooth arrival. Despite a few turns off the towpath that can be a little confusing, the journey to Ridge Rider is an integral part of the adventure, leading you to a truly rewarding camping experience.

Ridge Rider Campground Reviews
I stayed in one of their tent sites one night while biking the C&O canal and I can't say enough good things about this campground. The folks I encountered who work here are very helpful and friendly. The bath house is clean and well taken care of. They have facilities to help you take care of your bike and wash it off. The only thing to be aware of is that there is a pretty significant and long hill to climb to get to the entrance of the campgrounds. Also, cell signal is pretty weak around that area so I would suggest printing out the riding directions before you go so you can find your way. There are a few turns off of the towpath to get there and it can be a little confusing. Also, they don't advertise this, but the tent sites near the bath house have electric and water on them so that is a nice bonus for recharging your stuff and topping off water bottles. No need to filter, it's potable. I would definitely go back and highly recommend.
Jun 16, 2025 · Shawn LockeIf you are riding the C&O towpath, want a place to camp with hot showers and are willing to walk up some seriously steep (but short) hills, stay here. We did. Zero regrets. Bathhouse has been remodeled. Showers are hot with great pressure. Campsite was perfect. Camp store well stocked. Jim and Cary (Kerry) were awesome and super helpful.
Jun 03, 2025 · Z NNot sure what happened to my prior review which was somehow deleted. My camper was broken into and robbed while in storage at this campground last year. The manager didn’t even have the decency to refund me the $50 storage fee I paid for safe storage. I filed a police report with the Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office. The manager still denied that it happened and claimed that I lied. That’s the type of customer service you can expect here.
May 13, 2025 · Christopher YoungerAfter doing some research, my family decided on a day trip to Ridge Rider Campground! This was the best decision I could have made. The camp host/manager of the grounds was absolutely amazing. As newbies to RVing, we were a little nervous about our first official camping trip. John was really awesome even though it was a Holiday. He quickly recommended a different site that would better accommodate us, and when we hit a little snag with lifting our levelers, he did what he could to lend a helping hand ON CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!! We will absolutely be back and recommend these grounds for anyone looking to camp!
