Reno KOA Journey at Boomtown Journey Reviews
I think the employees at this KOA say it all on how to run a campground!! Very friendly and helpful. We were traveling from Massachusetts and I was unexpectedly hospitalized in the Carson Tahoe Medical Center. My husband had to move our trailer and these wonderful people helped him to manage that. They adjusted his reservation by adding days and then giving us a refund when we left a day early. There are a lot of nice people out there and you can find some of them at this KOA!! Also... The laundry room is clean with 6 washers and 6 dryers. Very clean with money exchange machine for quarters. Right down the hill from the casino. One thing negative is that they keep the campground very brightly lit at night making it hard to sleep. Thanks KOA employees for really helping this older traveling couple.
May 21, 2025 · D Shaw SawyerHad a great time! The staff here is friendly and helpful so we didn’t have to be in a sunshiny spot this time around. The shuttle driver Marshall was friendly and so much fun to talk with, and quick for pick up and drop off at Boomtown. We had an amazing time here the place is so clean and beautiful! Recommend it highly! Plus my wife won at the casino $500.00 glory to God! Woohoo!!
Jun 26, 2025 · Jose TorresStayed here for a few nights on our 2000 mile roadtrip. Had a spot along the back row fence with the most amazing view of the river, train track, aqueduct, and the mountains. The spots are far enough from the neighbor, and it is possible to walk the dogs across the street for potty breaks in the grass. The campground is very green with sprinklers on at night and the trees in the middle are nice for shade. The pool was nice, but the hours were fairly limited and there were only two private locking bathrooms with showers available for the entire campground. The kids spent quite some time waiting for people to get out of those bathrooms when they were trying to take a shower before or after going into the pool. There is a registration office, laundry room, and little “store” in the building next to the pool, and we didn’t see any kind of family center where you could really hang out. There was no playground apparent either so it felt like this place wasn’t really super friendly for families with kids, but that could be because it is not far from the town of Reno, which is a gambling town.Security came through a few times a day and night with flashing lights, and we often saw security guards walking around the pool area so I’m not sure if they might’ve had problems with outside people trying to get in and that is why they were very particular with the bathroom code and only having certain hours that the pool was open.Up the hill, there was a casino/hotel/ entertainment building (Boomtown) that was fun. They had a place with video games and mini golf and a carousel for the kids. The Cabela’s store next door was also interesting to look at with all of the taxidermic animals they had in there, including a huge live fish tank and a shooting gallery that took coins. All in all, it was a clean, well taken care of campground that was fine for a few nights and not far from the main city of Reno to go visit and check out the sights.
Aug 24, 2024 · Sonja GardnerStayed for 3 nights. Super clean and friendly. Kids played at the playground and found other kids to play with also. Has wifi. Very quiet and had security. Great place to stay if you want to be close to Reno but not on Reno.
May 18, 2025 · Mark HerbertThe staff at KOA Journey is superior by far to similar parks. The grounds are well kept, the park office offers showers and laundry. Most importantly is the mini store which has a cold case for specialty foods and snacks as well as all types of beverages. The RV repair area has a wide array of tools and RV repair items which represents the phrase "if it's not sold here, it's not that needed." Thanks again to all associated with the Boomtown KOA Journey, Verdi, Nevada.
