While located on a military installation, Remington Park functions as a key recreational facility that is generally accessible to both military personnel and the public.
For New Yorkers, particularly those in the northern and central parts of the state, Fort Drum is readily accessible via major roadways, making the drive to the campground relatively straightforward. It’s a short distance from Watertown, a larger city providing essential services, dining, and shopping options. Visitors approaching Fort Drum will need to enter through a designated access gate and should be prepared to show valid identification, as is standard for military installations. It's always a good practice for non-military personnel to confirm the latest visitor access policies with Fort Drum before embarking on their trip.
Once inside Fort Drum, Remington Park RV Campground is clearly marked. The campground's specific area offers a mix of beautiful wooded sections, as noted by a reviewer who "loved the area we were in...in some beautiful woods." This provides a pleasant, natural backdrop for your RV site. The presence of "hiking trails around and behind the campsites" further emphasizes its integration with nature. While one review mentions a "road is very busy in front of the campsites," this detail provides a realistic expectation for New Yorkers. However, the overall accessibility and natural setting make it a convenient and attractive option for local RV enthusiasts seeking a blend of outdoor adventure and nearby amenities.

While specific, time-limited discounts might fluctuate, New Yorkers can typically expect value through:
- Competitive Rates: Compared to private campgrounds, facilities on military installations often offer very reasonable rates for RV and tent sites, as well as cabins. This affordability makes it an attractive option for local New Yorkers seeking value.
- Weekly and Monthly Discounts: It's common for such campgrounds to offer reduced rates for extended stays (e.g., weekly or monthly rates), providing significant savings for those planning a longer New York getaway.
- Military Priority/Rates: Active duty military, retirees, and authorized DoD civilians typically receive specific rates or priority booking. While this isn't a direct public promotion, it's a key aspect of their pricing structure.
- Seasonal Pricing: Rates may vary by season, with potentially lower prices during off-peak times (e.g., spring or fall) compared to the peak summer months. It's always worth inquiring about these variations.
- Bundle Deals (Potential): Sometimes, if renting a cabin or a specific type of site, there might be package deals that include rentals of park equipment or access to certain amenities.

Remington Park RV Campground Reviews
I was unsure what to expect since it's my first time using a camp ground on post. The facilities are nice, showers provided, and laundry room. Service is spotty if you have TMobile but you can rent a WiFi hotspot from the office. I did tent camping and loved the area we were in. Since no one else was there, we were able to choose our spot. It's not close to the main office and in some beautiful woods. There is a bathroom nearby, and each lot has water and electric. The negatives for me are bathrooms lacked check-ups (not sure if campground or park maintenance), and the road is very busy in front of the campsites. There are hiking trails around and behind the campsites, and in the weekday mornings, PT runners go by starting at 0630-0800. There's been a lot of cars driving by and turning around (day and night).I would recommend this place again!
Oct 12, 2021 · A ZAwesome place for a quick getaway. Friendly staff clean cabins. Park for the kids and the lake are close and lots of trails. My wife and our four boys loved our stay here.
Aug 30, 2019 · Ron CunninghamBest staff and people ever. Super clean, excellent facilities maintained immaculately
Jan 30, 2025 · ANYA MoralesSuch a peaceful setting! Office staff are helpful and friendly. There are 2 CGs on base, Remington and Pine Lane. Remington is closer to commissary, has RV sites and cabins. All sites are pull thru and big rig friendly. Lots of space between sites so it feels very private. No shaded sites but some small trees provide a little shade to sit under. Direct TV and Starlink working great!! There's a simple bath house and a laundry. Miles of walking and biking trails. Walmart just off base, 20 mins to Watertown and a Love's truck stop. Didn't see diesel at the stations on base.So glad we decided to stay here and visit the area!
Jul 04, 2024 · Linda JarzynkaWe stay in the cabins often - the kids love it. Several nice playgrounds, a great trail network, and basic kitchen amenities make the cabins a great place to visit with younger kids. We pay a little extra for linens, which is worth it if you’re traveling in for a weekend. Check out LeRay Mansion while you’re here, if you like old historic houses.
