Rancheria Campground is beautifully situated at 63001 Huntington Lake Rd, Lakeshore, CA 93634, USA. This prime location places it directly on the shores of Huntington Lake, a popular and picturesque high-elevation lake nestled within the vast Sierra National Forest. The campground's setting offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and immediate access to the lake's recreational opportunities.
Access to Rancheria Campground typically involves traveling on well-maintained mountain roads. Huntington Lake Road (part of 63001) leads directly to the campground area. While these are mountain roads, they are generally passable for most vehicles, including RVs and trailers, though drivers should always exercise caution, especially during adverse weather conditions or in the shoulder seasons when snow might be present at higher elevations. It is always advisable for Californians planning a trip to check current road conditions with the Sierra National Forest or local authorities before departing.
A unique aspect of registering for a campsite at Rancheria, as noted by a previous customer, is the need to go "off site to the marina, past post office and find a small portable office." While this requires a short drive or walk upon arrival, it ensures a clear process for check-in and provides an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the nearby amenities. The proximity to the marina, Post Office, and potentially other services in the Lakeshore area means that while you're enjoying a natural setting, essential facilities are within reasonable reach for resupply or additional activities. The true highlight of its location, however, remains its direct access to Huntington Lake, making it an ideal base for all water-based recreation.

Jun 10, 2025 · Cynthia MagGreat place to go camping. A very beautiful mountain lake with plenty of things to do. The campsite has all the essential amenities and Loren and Betty are great hosts!
Jun 16, 2025 · Lloyd JohnsonWe recently completed our first stay at Rancheria Campground. Great experience overall. The campground has potable water (fresh from a spring), and a mix of vault and flush toilets, both of which are very well maintained. No showers, but a camp shower solves that issue easily. Bears do visit nightly looking for unlocked and/or overfilled trash receptacles. So campers, do your duty. Sites are on the small side. We had two double sites, and they were barely bigger (if at all) than the single sites.Camp hosts Vicki and Shane were awesome! They worked so hard to keep the restrooms clean, the campers checked in, and the campground quiet and orderly. They truly made our first visit a motivating reason to return. Vista Recreation (managers of the campground), please make sure you bring this couple back next year!
Jun 17, 2024 · Kit FisherWe had a great time , campining, hiking, horse back riding and fishing!!!
Jun 29, 2025 · Michael SahakianMy sister & I had an amazing experience for our first stay at Rancheria Campgrounds. Our host Bob was a delight from the moment we met him. Along with the other campground hosts, Shane & Lisa. The campground is close to the lake, hikes and all other recreation. The market at China Peak landing across the lake opens at 7am and closes at 7pm, very convenient. Overall an amazing stay!
