Rainbow Campground

Estacada, OR 97023, USA

4.0
Spent July 3-5th 2025 in spot #13. As previous reviewer stated there is fire damage here in the campground. Is it dire? not necessarily, our spot was devoid of trees and you can see where the damaged trees have been cut down. Our spot had river access and was close to the bathrooms. I felt completely safe here with my 2 kids and dog. Some of the other spots are undesireable but this campground is still very usable. - Zach Doarn

Services Offered

  • Campsites: Rainbow Campground offers 17 single-family campsites primarily designed for tent camping, with some suitable for small RVs or trailers. Each site is typically equipped with a picnic table and a campfire ring with a grill. While the campground was repaired post-fire, many of its trees will take years to grow back, meaning some spots may have reduced shade.
  • Restrooms: Accessible vault toilets are provided within the campground. While these facilities are operational, visitors should be prepared for basic amenities and are encouraged to bring their own toilet paper, as restocking frequency can vary.
  • Drinking Water: Potable drinking water is provided at the campground. This is a crucial amenity for primitive or recovering sites, ensuring campers have access to clean water.
  • No Garbage Collection: As is common in many forest service campgrounds, especially those recovering from natural disasters, there is no garbage collection service. Campers are required to practice "pack it in, pack it out" principles, meaning all trash must be removed from the site.
  • First-Come, First-Served / Reservations: Some sources indicate that sites may be available on a first-come, first-served basis, while others suggest that 17 reservable campsites are available. It's highly recommended to check current reservation policies via Recreation.gov or by contacting the Mt. Hood National Forest directly, as availability can be limited.
  • Camp Host: A campground host may be available on-site to assist visitors and provide information.
