Port Huron KOA Resort Reviews
We recently stayed at this campground with our kids, and while there were some highlights, our overall experience was mixed. On the plus side, our kids had a great time making new friends, and the weekend activities at the pavilion were fun and well-organized.However, the campground felt almost too large to be managed effectively. There’s a lengthy list of rules, but it doesn’t seem like anyone is enforcing them. Campers regularly walked through our site with no regard for personal space, and etiquette was pretty much non-existent.A major safety concern was the number of kids driving golf carts recklessly. We witnessed a group of teens nearly crash into a younger child on an electric scooter — definitely not something you want to see on a family trip. The bathroom near our site was also disappointing. It smelled strongly of feces, and the attached showers reeked of sewage. On top of that, the water temperature was either freezing cold or scalding hot — no in-between.Lastly, we paid for four nights, not realizing that Sawmill City wasn't open, and the campground’s own facilities shut down by 2 p.m. during the week. That left us with very little to do outside of the weekend. This place has potential, especially for social kids, but it needs better oversight, maintenance, and transparency to be worth a return visit.
May 27, 2025 · Cynthia RussellThis is a nice clean, fun, family KOA resort. As nice as it is, I am a firm believer that with the amount of money they taken, they should have higher standards. The grass is more weeds than grass, the price per lot has gotten in my opinion out of control. It’s the location that makes it so ideal for me, but if you don’t continue to take care of the amenities that you have and continue to upgrade then you’re falling behind.
Jun 22, 2025 · Christopher CraibVery nice modern sites, however did not have enough bandwidth to stream. The Employees were extremely nice and professional. Our site had a grill with LP gas. Also a beautiful Gazebo! Stamped Concrete patios picnic table and a glider next to the fire pit. Pricing was fair. Camped many years ago, still a great camping spot. My Wife works from our RV so my only complaint is invest in better WiFi. Will be back!
Jun 07, 2025 · Paul TylerMy family goes here the 1st weekend in June every year. It is always an amazing time. It has plenty of activities for the kids. From Go-Karts, batting cages, putt -putt golf, water bumper boats, train ride through the camp site, an arcade, horseshoes for adults, 2 beach volleyball spots, 2 very nice swimming pools, face painting, and of course several basketball and tennis courts. It is so nice and big you must rent a golf cart to get around the complex. It also has a very nice outside kitchen that has 8 cooki g eyes and sinks to wash you dishes and for cleaning. The community showers and bathrooms are very clean too.It also has dining restaurants there is you not outside cooking type. It's an absolute blast and good time.
Jun 13, 2025 · Derrick EdwardsKids Had Fun, But Disappointed as a ParentWe recently stayed at the Port Huron KOA and while my kids had a great time, I left with mixed feelings about our experience. The campground definitely caters well to children — there are plenty of fun activities like Water Wars, jump pillow, and a swimming pool. However, I was really disappointed to find that some key attractions (like the jump pillow) were closed as early as 2 PM. For a resort that charges more than your average campground, it’s frustrating to pay extra for amenities that aren’t consistently available throughout the day.Additionally, the atmosphere wasn’t as family-friendly as I expected from a KOA. There was inappropriate music playing, and at times I noticed the smell of marijuana lingering around the grounds — not ideal when you’re trying to enjoy a clean, safe environment with young kids. When we arrived at our rustic cabin, the exterior was littered with trash — cigarette butts, a beer bottle cap, torn tickets, and even a marijuana cartridge tucked by the side of the cabin. Not only did this make a bad first impression, but it raised serious concerns about how well the cabins are cleaned and checked between guests.Overall, I appreciate that my kids had a fun time — and that’s always important — but from a parent’s perspective, the experience felt overpriced and poorly maintained.
