Platte River Campground Reviews
Great campground. Went in mid-June. Temps were 60s in the day, 50 at night. Plenty of pine trees and shade. I was able to get a spot an hour before arriving. Cleanest campground bathroom I've ever seen (loop 3). Firewood is $10 a bundle. Squirrels and chipmunks everywhere. It gets dark around 10pm here in June.
Jun 28, 2025 · courtney vickeryThis is our favorite Northern Michigan campground. We love the secluded camp sites & access to the river and trails all the way to Lake Michigan. Being a national Park there are very strict rules but this keeps it nice & you know what’s expected from the moment you check in. There are bears in the area so you can’t leave even bug spray out. The bathrooms are kept up and the showers are nice with plenty of hot water and handicap access. The roads are all asphalt so it’s perfect for bike riding. Make sure to visit the mouth of Platte River, pyramid point trailhead & we love Esch Road Beach it’s dog friendly on the North side.
Jun 24, 2025 · Heather LeighA campsite with access to showers and toilets with running hot water. Has its own small hiking trail that is good for the family. Each site has a fire pit, picnic table & you can park your car within sight. Firewood is sold on sight but cheaper to bring your own or buy from a store off the grounds.
Jun 08, 2025 · junmadine2000We camped during the off season. The campground is beautiful, sites are fairly private. There is so much to see and the Platte River is beautiful. All the Rangers we encountered were super helpful and kind. The bathrooms were clean. Lake Michigan is about a mile hike from the campground. The pads for parking campers seem very level, ours was perfect!Only two complaints. A LOT of the sites have the fire ring and picnic table on a pad that is behind the camper. But, for tents this won't matter. Then, on our last night at the park, the new camp host arrived. He was quite rude and starting shoving his political beliefs in my husband's face amongst other things. Some guy from Iowa. Hopefully there's a different host when we return!
